Best playing cue under $1,000

Not sure if serious or being sarcastic about fixing up your website, but if you don't know HTML, CSS and JavaScript using a site maker like Wix you can have a pretty stellar looking site that is mobile compatible in a couple hours.. If you wrote your own code, I could take a look if you wanted.

Not being sarcastic at all, it's really a matter of priorities and I put the customers first.

HTML, CSS and Java were not created when I programmed.

I just checked and the website does work on my phone.

Would I pay a few hundred to have it done up right? In a heartbeat.

In the words of the ever loved Michael Andros, "Dave your website really sucks."

Yes he really told me that over the phone, I said Thank you very much Michael and he knew from my voice that I was really thanking him, he was worried it would make me mad and I Thanked him again.

What would you guys do?

I have a basic inlaid Pechauer 19 oz with maple shaft and love it. Trying to sell 2 old cues to raise the cash for CF shaft. Would recommend. they have a nice selection of looks at competitive prices.

You might consider a Nova cue. They are like using a Schon on steroids. Firm but soft hit with the right tips. He used a dymondwood insert on his shafts and I think they have something to do with the unique feel.

Nubs' finish is really amazing (hand rubbed). I have owned one and used it extensively for over fifteen years and there isn't a ding anywhere on it. Nubs passed away last year and they are getting harder to find. I have owned very plain ones and very fancy ones, but they all hit pretty much the same, and the hit is solid.

Good luck!

Bryan Mordt(BCM cues) makes exceedingly well made made cues for well under a grand. Very nice workmanship from a really good guy. A basic mw from him will run you about 650-700bux. A steal in my book.

I second that! Bryan lives here in Arizona and makes some gorgeous cues that hit somewhat similar to a South West. Can't go wrong here!

Monday I was showing a guy who has been playing poo like 30 daysl a few thing to help him get a little better. He apprently had bought a McDermott Merry Widow, not sure what the stock tip was?.

So the first thing I told him was the Tip was a slick as a baby butt, so a few scuff with 220 grit sandpaper was the cure. Show him how it held Chalk better.

Showed him how to chalk properly. He could not draw at all, I said let me do it with your Cue. Cue drew like dynamite, showed him the right way to do it draw that is.

In 15 minutes he was catching on. So I guess he bought a good Cue for way under a GRAND.

Agree here. Cue is WAY over-rated as far as playing ability/performance is concerned. Really good playing cues are available for less than two Benjie's.

I’ve owned quite a few mid-range priced cues including Sugartree, Olney, and Stacey. The cue I keep going back to is my Troy Downey. Best hitting cue for me and the fit and finish is great. Just my two cents.
Idaho,
How would you rank Sugartree, Olney and Stacey?
Thx

There was a gorgeous Scruggs Sneaky Pete on the Forum and it was in your price range.
In fact, there was more than one & you’re far better with a cue from Tim than lots of others.

I would agree with this answer- I have owned many.many customs over the years as well as productions of all types. I recently sprung for my first Scruggs- a fancy sneaky- Bocote into straight maple- ivory piloted joint/ ivory ferrule/ straight maple shaft- just around $1000- this cue plays as good as any custom I ever owned- maybe better! If i were you I would NOT spend money on Carbon fiber or other hi tech stuff like that UNLESS you try them first and are SURE you want it- otherwise you will lose several hundred getting rid of them to go back to wood. You just can't lose with a quality Scruggs SP for the money and you lose no $$ on resale, if for some reason you don't like it.

Remember years ago playing in this Tournment at the Northern Lounge in Phoenix, sadly the place closed years ago. I was sitting wait for my next match.

This stranger stops in on his way home for Las Vegas - BCA thing, apparently local guy who was very good player, had told him the stranger to do so. Its a money game 9 ball, don't recall all the details. But stranger has a Cue case that was like one you buy at Goodwill for $2.00 inside is a Sneeky Pete that look nothing special, It Butt section is duck taped holding it together.

Well the stranger is gone almost as fast as he arrived, he took the locals money & beat him bad in the race to 7 games, and played like no one I ever saw before.

Latter I learn the guy name, he was from Texas. Know as Fat Ralph. Point was the Cue was a tool, butt ugly tool, but it was in the hands of someone with skill at 9 Ball on a Bar Box.

Apprently he was a regular at the BCA, always playing for money in the practice area for money, mostly won with his junkie Sneeky Pete with duck taped handle.

Indian not Arrow.

Cuetec Value!!!!

I'll throw my two cents in here as well, I've owned a lot of cues, but my current best bang for your buck player has to be the Cuetec SVB Dakota Edition.

For $599 you get a solid maple cue with the Cyenrgy CF shaft (my favorite of all the CF shafts) plus an extension, and shaper.

Given the current economic climate, I wouldn't spend more.

Here's a link to the cue on PoolDawg;

Haven't read the thread, but I'll have to go with Capone on
this one. You can get a nice Merry Widow with 2 shafts for
less than a grand and they play fantastic.
