Best Pool Balls - Sam here

Hi. I recently bought an old Gandy 4.5 x 9. I recovered it with Velocity Pro cloth, and have been playing on it with very old, no-name balls. I had to soak them in bleach to get some of the stains out. I want to replace them, and would appreciate any views on which balls to buy, how much I should be looking at for price, and perhaps best site to get them.
I'm just getting back into pool after a 40 year layoff - my game got interrupted by the SouthEast Asia Invitational where I continued to take second place in an F-4 Phantom for 1968, 1969 and 1970. It started off as all fun and games, but then someone got hurt and it became a sport.
Anyway, I look forward to any inputs. sam

Go with Super Arimith or Centennials. Get the Measel CB to go with the set. Spend a little more up front and you will be better off in the long term. It seems as if you are already off to a good start so don't compromise by trying to save a few dollars

Neilsens has good prices and supports this site.

There is usually a banner at the top of this forum

I think you get a discount if you mention that you are a AZ member.

I got a good price from them on the Super Pro Value Pack.

I have the same cloth on my Olhausen. Ditto TheBook on going with Neilsens on the Super Aramith Pro Valeu package. Comes with the measles ball, cleaner, and the Rempe training ball. Call him direct at 217-585-1660 and he'll usually lower the price since he won't be paying ebay fees. They have super fast shipping also.

Agreed. The Superpro or Centennial is the way to go. I would also recommend the "measle" cue ball. Having good balls will actually make a noticeable difference in the play of your table. No sense in owning a sports car with sub-par tires.

If you must have the best, choose the super pro or centennial balls. However, you can get a very nice set of balls for less. I recently bought a set of the aramith premium balls and am very happy with them.

I also have the premiums, but have a red circle cueball with them. If you look around (luckily I didn't have to - $50 at a closing billiards store w/the upgraded cueball) you can find really good deals on them too.

I play quite a bit on Diamond barboxes, so I have never even shot w/a measles cueball (always red circle). Is there a major difference between how it plays (vs. mine)??
