Best Pool Balls

I am looking for a new set of pool balls. With price being no object, what would you recommend as the best set of balls.

Thanks in advance,
Rodney

Super Aramith Pro. I have a concrete floor in my pool room. When some of my friends come over to play, the balls go flying every which way and land on the concrete. Amazingly my Super Aramith Pro balls are still in good shape. Thought I would at least need a new cue ball by now, but still good!

Note that they have Super Aramith Pro and Super Aramith Pro TV. The TV set has different colored balls which show up on video better and includes the measles cue ball.

I've heard it said the Brunswick Centennials and Aramith Super Pros are exactly the same ball with simply different color schemes. However, I tend to feel a difference between the two (not saying there is one, could be psychological). Whenever I play it seems the Aramiths seems a little "lighter" and crisper when reacting against one another, so I would go with them. This could simply be the result of the condition the balls happen to be in when I play. That being said Super Pros and Centennials should play equally well.

Without question SUPER ARAMITH PRO BALLS,you cant go wrong with these balls. They will last forever...

i did alot of research a few months ago comparing Centianials and Super Arimath Pro..there is alot of information in this forum and others about it...Centenials and Super Arimath Pro are made by the same company Saluc..the same composition goes into each ball..the only difference is in the coloring in the balls....with this said i think you will find the vast majority of people will favor the Super Arimath Pro..they seem to be easier on the eye when lining up a shot........i have the Super Arimith pro and would have no other...

Also my pool partner Special Ed as pictured plays with none other than Super Arimath Pro.......

I use only.........

I use only Brunswick Centennial Balls w/ the Blue Circle Cue Ball that comes with the set. I also carry my own set. Ask the TOP players, which they prefer and I think you'll find it to be an overwhelming choice. There are soooo many copied/counterfeit balls on the market right now (Red Circle included) that if you don't buy a Brunswick set from a dealer - You won't know what you’re getting.

Last week I got an Aramith "measles" ball and it was right on the mark weight wise with the Blue Circle Centennial. 6.00 oz. and 170 grams. The red circle ball comes out lighter and so does the Aramith logo CB that comes with the super pro set.

the other day i'm playing, had centennials, and a RED DOT cue ball. well i'm missing left and right, not getting position, drawing the holy living hell out of the ball............so i tell a couple guys i know that somthing is wrong with this cue ball. of course they tell me i'm crazy, because its a REGULATION REPLACEMENT. so, i go to move the cue ball with my hand, and the damn thing feels like a golf ball in my hand.

well i put two balls on either side of the cue ball and the rack on top............the two balls rolled away, the cue never moved. upon inspection, from my naked eyes, the ball appeared to be at least a 16th of an inch smaller.

oldhasbeen is 100 percent right. there are MANY red circle cue balls, but only ONE of them is the good one.

someone earlier said they thought they could tell a slight difference in the centennials and super pro's. i do notice that every time i play with the super pro's they tend to cut a slight bit more. i've experienced this every time i switch. nothing huge, but a slight more cut. this could have something to do with how clean the balls stay, i dunno, but there is a slight difference.

they are both great sets of balls, and are the ONLY two sets anyone should EVER consider.

Ive played in a pool hall that has sets of centennials from 30+ years ago, with original cue balls. When the cue ball is placed between two balls and the rack put on top, it is at minimum 1/16th gap difference. Cue balls wear out, and need to be replaced, so sometimes if your playing with an older set, check the cue ball size, it does make a difference on your shots.

only one?

Where is that ONE ball at I want to go play with that one> :D

FWIW I am a little underwhelmed by the Super Pros. I and a friend have a set we bought back when you get a bulk discount from Mueller's. (They seemed to have stopped this recently, maybe they got tired of everyone turning them around on Ebay?) I have been disappointed by how quickly their surface finish gets dull in normal use on tables with an average level of dirt, and how easily they seem to chip.

I am also not a fan of the material/surface finish used in the "Logo" Aramith cue ball they come with. I initially thought it was the same as the (genuine) Aramith Red Circle I had been using prior to getting the full set, but a while a ago I put them side by side and the difference is obvious. I am not obssesed with minute variations in cue ball weights and diameters, but I am tired of having a cue ball that shows every tiny mark, especially if you miscue. This weekend I tried the Aramith ball polish on the "Logo" cue ball and was still unable to get some marks off it, whereas the Red Circle comes up clean much easier.

I have never used a set of the (current) Centennials so do not know how they compare to the Super Pros in terms of wear and surface finish.

As to the first paragraph...you suck!! :p

As to the second paragraph...I wonder if any priests might be giving a 2 for 1 special on exorcisms as a post Easter special.

Super pro's DON'T cut more. However, you can find a screwy thing or two happen when the CB doesn't weigh EXACTLY the same as the other balls in the rack, especially if you're not used to shooting with it everyday, or when you get an off weight numbered ball compared to the rest of them. I think OHB is wise to have his own set of balls that weigh out identically to each other....brass ones or pool.

Warning, check your pockets!

Somewhat related to the thread...I have a new set of Super Aramith Pro (which I love and think are the best) and noticed one of them had a couple fairly deep scratches on them. I had no idea how this happened. Even if I jumped a ball off the table, it's carpeted, so that would not cause any damage. It had to be something sharp hitting it. I found that a couple of my pocket liners had come a little loose (at least the nails holding them) so that the head of the nail was sticking up on a couple of them by 1-3 mm, just enough to scratch the balls. So, periodically check the pockets if you want smooth balls.
