Ohh i ended up getting a schmelke sneaky (114$ with a package of predator chalk, from pooldawg) I love it! I really enjoy the simplicity look of a sneaky cue.
I'm currently waiting to hear back from Michael j. Hall, would love to have a custom sneaky from a hometown cue maker.

OP said sneaky that plays well but doesn't want to spend a fortune. Bob Frey $350, not a fortune and you can sell it down the road for the same if not more. I guess "fortune" is relative. If he sells the cue he purchased at a later date he will not break even, hence the Frey is a better value. Just IMHO. However he can toss a break tip on the inexpensive sneaky he acquired and break with it if he upgrades. I break with a 17oz old Canada made Dufferin and it works as well as any break cue I have tried.

I picked one of these up a couple of years ago for a member of my team and she loves it. I must say it plays and feels pretty nice.
