best "soft-hitting" cue

in your opinion the best soft-hitting quality cue choice. to elaborate i have had best success playing over the years with a meucci cue but am also aware now of their quality issues. whose cue has the closest feel to a meucci
 
i recommend you buy a cue with phenlonic (plastic/orwood) joints. stay away from steal. also, buy a elk master tip, there real soft. this should give you a soft, quiet hit. hope this helps.
 
Try a Mike Erwin cue he was the man at Meucci for 17 years or so and now has his own shop. I just purchased one and it hits great.
 
Where is the Mike Erwin cue shop located? Although I don't care for their flexible shafts I've always like the large, fat points of Meucci cues - expecially the three-pointed cues.

you know,,,,you can have pretty much anyone recreate a meucci hit. long pro taper, thin walled soft ferrule, tenon through, whatever tip they use. plastic joint material.

actually, if you decide to cap the ferrule, you can get and even softer hit.

and after it's done, have 'em lacquer the whole damn grip :):)
 
Used to play with a Le Pro but I don't anymore. It is a decent easy maintenance tip. Probably half of the people out there play with one and don't know it......they come standard on Predator shafts!

1. no metal in the joint
2. thin butt "Similar to the Meucci or Cuetec's"
3. finish over wrap as well
4. long pro taper

Is this possible..."Meucci "right... but I hate the Black dot!
And their quality right now is the pitts!
Any other possibility's?

A buddy of mine has an old Meucci Original that hits incredibly and has all the characteristics you quoted. Lots of cue ball action with that thing.

Have you tried a Huebler? I used to have a Huebler hustler, they have a nylon threaded insert in the shaft.

Soft hit, great playability, plus relatively inexpensive.

Used to play with Le Pro. Switched to Triangle. Hate Triangle. Switching again. Any suggestions?

I've hit with layered tips. Can't decide if I like em or not. Can't see what the big deal is about em. Any insight?

It's hard to find a tip brand that will stay consistent. The deal with the layered tips, for me, is that they keep their shape. Don't have to worry about mushrooming or about working on the dime or nickel. I like Triangles moreso than LePro, but they are both too high maintenance for me. You pay for convenience.
 
I was also a proponent of Meucci Cues for several years (the pre red dot, black dot years). In fact, I played with one for nearly 6 years. I When I ordered one with a red dot shaft that was enough to sevor my relationship with the company. The cues just didn't live up to the quality that had been associated with the company for years (or at least that is my opinion) I tried several cues afterwards looking for a shaft that has a lot of snap in it. I tried Joss, Schon, Predator, and Phillippi. They were all too stiff. The only cues that I can even reasonably think that have significant snap in the shaft are the following: Bill McDaniel Custom Cues, Mottey Custom Cues, and Bob Frey Custom Cues. Personally, my favorite is McDaniel cues, but If you are looking for a lower end (sneaky pete cue), I think Bob Frey is the way to go.

If you like the soft hit of a Meucci then you might want to look at Mikkelsen cues (there is a link in the for sale section to his webpage). They have a awesome soft hit and feel to them I find alot like the few Southwest cues I hit with (Southwest also have a great hit although you have to pay large for it).
