Elkmaster. One, thick layer with NO glue. Been around for years!
The vs ultraskin is no where near soft as the moori soft
Not even close but I understand it's all hit and miss, been shown variable hardness of many of the same batch of tip by the durometer
Not sure how you came to that conclusion as the Moori Soft is listed at 64 while I'm getting 61/62 on the VS UltraSkin; not that the difference means much but certainly doesn't qualify as the "not even close" you state.
I have a few of both and numbers are pretty consistent on my Shore D.
Regardless, my intention on the post was more towards the hardness after natural play compression.
no doubt in my mind what the best tip on the market is, Dennis Searing ......

I was a huge Moori fan, used nothing else.... 15 years ago; not the same these days.
putting a pad first under the tip helps immensely with keeping a tip from getting hard and also helps with the softer hit.
another thing is not to cut down the tip and learn to use a full height one.
how does a pad keep a soft tip from compressing (getting harder)with use?putting a pad first under the tip helps immensely with keeping a tip from getting hard and also helps with the softer hit.

Was wondering the same thing. Seems like a pad would perhaps protect the ferrule a bit (against what, I’m not really sure) but I think most pads are some sort of acrylic/plastic - not clear if/how they make a tip feel softer. I experimented with Kamui Black Med Clear vs Kamui Black Med (regular, no clear pad) on same cue. Not much discernible difference but if anything, the clear seemed to hit a bit sharper (and looks silly IMO). Not sure if thats the same as a separate pad…how does a pad keep a soft tip from compressing (getting harder)with use?
exactly what i was thinking. answer is it doesn't. pad just protects the ferrule.how does a pad keep a soft tip from compressing (getting harder)with use?
Agree 100%exactly what i was thinking. answer is it doesn't. pad just protects the ferrule.
