Best tip for banking?

As one who plays bank pool exclusively, I find myself continually searching for the best hit and feel I can create. I believe I play best and most consistent with a hard tip vs medium or soft. Am curious how other bank players feel and if they know what choice of tip hardness the top bankers use on their cues of choice?

Maybe Freddy the Beard will comment on this one?

Funny you should mention this. I just switched from a Moori Slow to a Sniper on one of my cues and love it. I got realized immediate results with the Sniper. It is actually a little softer than the Moori Slow IMO. I play 70% Banks, 25% One Pocket, and 5% anything else.

70% banks ... wow ...

No one hardly ever play banks in the west coast where I live and play ... mostly 9 and 1 hole. Learing 1 pocket has made me a better pool player.

Confucius say "Do not look for on cue what is found in stroke."

Actually, Confucius never said that. But he would have, had he been a billiards coach instead of a philosopher. And he spoke English.

How'd you get the name Cross-eyed Larry, anyway? :D :D :D

Good Rolls,

I think this is strictly a matter of personal preference.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Sniper tips and most people don't go back to a Moori afterwards. If you're looking for a hard tip the Water Buffalo tips do great IMHO.

I play with an Elkmaster and that's just what I play with. Whatever works for you :D

After playing with hard Triangle tips for decades, I too switched last year to the Sniper and there is no looking back...

I guess the 25% 1p can be considered 50% banks so that brings your total banks up to 87.5%. :)

You just gave it to me!

Cross-eyed Larry

Use it in good health. Think of all the weight you should be able to get with a name like Cross-eyed. ;) People will be lining up to play you. You'll have a fat stack of cash in no time. :) No need to thank me. :D

I have a sniper on one of my shafts and I like it. I wouldnt hesitate to put a sniper on my other shaft. I think soft vs. hard tips is personal preferance. I know that softer tips seem to"grab" the english better. Alot of onepocket players where im from prefer a softer tip for this reason.... I hope this helps..............

Hey Mr. Beard, I've had your book for about 2 years now and I want to say I love it and found it very beneficial, but I keep checking your website to order the DVD and it's not available. Any word on when it'll be available for the general public?

I had a couple of knee operations since Apr.and it kinda took me away from finishing the DVD. Now my new book will be available within the week so I have to attend to that. I am going to try and finish the DVD after the Derby City tourney.
