Best value for worsted cloth

Hey all,

I am going to replace the cloth on my table. It currently has nap cloth which is like new but i hate it. I am looking to get worsted cloth (or similar material). Cost is a factor so i am looking for the best value (not cheapest) cloth to replace it with. One other consideration is if it comes in oversize 8 foot or not. If not, i would need to buy 9 foot and cut it to size.

Thanks,

Chris

Just my opinion, but if you have a gold crown 3 which is a nice table, don't disrespect it by getting junk cloth. Alot of the cost in cloth is how often you need to replace it anyway. If you only play 5-10 hrs. per week, even the good stuff will last you forever....know what i mean?

Just to add to this......the table only sees about 5-10 hours of play per week

only?

That's a decent amount for an amature's home table. 2 hours a night at 10 hours a week is 5 days a week. Not to mention you have a geat table.

Dont skimp on on the cloth to save money. You are using it a lot so get something nice.

I agree with the others, not only will the savings be minimal, (under 100 bucks ) but the wear factor will make up the difference. Just not worth cutting corners IMO. Get the Simonis.

I think Simonis 860 for a 9 foot table is about 330 according to Ozone Billiards. If you shop you will do better most likely.

That Andy cloth is saying 260 bucks, so .... You'll be glad you bit the bullet and went with the good stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. Although I do have a nice table I have to work within a budget and simonis is nearly twice the cost of anything else in Canada (for the brands I have seen) at around $500 after tax. As I mentioned, I am not looking for cheap, I am looking for value. The last person who owned the table bought the cheapest cloth on the market.

I never show any respect to my pool table. I even call it a dirty whore once in a while!

I'm actually in the same boat as my fellow Canuck here.
My table needs new cloth as well, being in Canada and our dollar at what it is, $300 usd is around $4300 cdn (ok shut up, it sure as hell feels like it!). So as the OP asked, what's a good cloth at a good price?

Simonis will last a very long time.

There are certain times when the expensive option is also the budget option.

When one considers the time and money spent for recovering a table, nothing but Simonis is worth the cost.

When one is serious enough to own a decent table and play weekly on it for 25% of a normal (american) workweek, one should have the industry standard.

When one amortizes the cost of simonis, which will easily last, what 3 years? 4 years, at least? Anyhow, if it only lasts 3yrs at your current rate of play, that turns into less than $0.50 per hour (figuring 7hrs/week, three years, $500).

I'm guessing that your food and drink while you are playing cost more than that, but it's been a while since I've shopped for Molson and Poutine.

Thanks buck. Ill see if i can find some reviews of that cloth and fire him a PM. Greenie for being the only one to not trying to cram simonis down my throat when i have already indicated that is not going to happen.

Maybe there's a local poolroom near you that has some extra and would sell you for a better price than you could find on the open market?

A possible issue with Simonis that I've seen is some technicians are not familiar installing it. A while back, one of the local pool halls decided to entice the tournament players. His bread and butter was the weekend social people, not players. So, the owner decided invest re-clothing the first row with Simonis to attract this segment of the market. The people he used re-cloth barboxes, but apparently had no experience with stretching Simonis, so the tables didn't run as fast as they should. Which negated any playing advantage for buying Simonis, and some of the 'serious' players even questioned whether he spent $2K in renovating as he promised.

Steinway Billiards, which hosts many regional tours (Predator, Tri-State, Ginky Memorial), and the 14.1 World, have been using Andy on their tables for a couple of years, with no complaints from customers. If there was an issue, then Pros like Earl, Darren, or Shane would've long complained about it on their facebook accounts.

Cloth

Proform cloth is about $163.oo for a pro8 bed/rail set + a slight up-charge due to shipping to canada...

Yes, I sell andy procloth. But it don't come in oversized 8 so you'd have to order a 9' at around $260 for a 9 foot set.
The proform is a great option.
