Best wood combination to make a (uncored) heavy cue with forward balance?

Assuming the cue is standard 58" length, maple shaft with no metal insert, and would NOT have a steel or metal joint collar (joint pin can be brass, steel, etc).......

What wood combination forearm/handle would you use to make a heavy cue (20 oz or heavier) that has a forward balance (19" or better, from the end of the butt) ?

Something of this nature was just discussed earlier.
IMO, Desert Ironwood or EBO F/A into a 16"+ BEM handle, no seperate butt-sleeve.
Any wght.blt added would be more for balance.

My suggestion is a Non cored ebony, cocobolo or kingwood forearm, maple handle, and ebony, cocobolo or kingwood butt sleeve over the maple for your butt sleeve. This will allow 20-21 ounce, forward weighted cue with the balance point you desire is turned in a straight taper from joint to butt plate, not a compound taper, and no need for a weight bolt in the butt end. Of coarse you will need to wrap the handle or you can use a hardened piece of birdseye or hard curly maple for a wrap less cue.

If extreme forward balance is what you are looking for then you're going to want
a real heavy shaft (4Oz+) aswell as a longer/heavier then average jointpin along
with a heavy wood forearm. The handle area maple and the buttsleeve with a big
maple core aswell.

The more forward the weight is the more impact it has on the balance.

If it is merely "normal" forward balance you seek then a maple handle combined
with any number of heavy wood forearms and buttsleeve will work for you.

All the woods mentioned plus, for example, Lignum Vitae, Camatillo,
African Blackwood, Katalox, Snakewood. There are more.

This thread inspired me to build a cue with about those specs.

Koa handle and two shades of bocate for the remainder. Should come in between 20 and 21 oz. No metal in it other than the joint pin which will add to the forward balance. Here is a picture of it in progress at +.100. Hopefully it will stay straight:)

I don't know how you can get to 16-17 oz butt weight with Koa handle and no A-joint stud.
They're just not that heavy. Specially Koa.

The forearm and butt sleeve is really dense. Actually it's a piece that you gave to me already tapered that you found un cue worthy. It weighs 15.3 oz now without the pin, bumper or finish. But I still need to cut some. So maybe it will be 20 when finished if I find a nice heavy shaft? Or maybe I'm high? It will be front weighted for sure.

You would want some really dense wood.
Blackwood, purpleheart, ebony or similar dense wood for the forearm. Some nice burl for the handle section, I see Koa is allready mentioned, I think that would look great.
A big 3/8x10M brass joint pin and as Double-Dave said, a really dense maple shaft, 4oz atleast.
