BEST
- "just get a Mezz"...have six of them now, love them all and are easily the best mass-market cues

- "bury me with my Joss"... don't remember who had this in their signature years ago, but it made me curious, so i got a Joss 44 with traditional 13mm shaft, and it might be my favorite cue to play with out of thirty or so sticks

- "Ultraskin tips"...these things rule and I don't see why you'd pay more for a Kamui or whatever else if you want a layered tip

WORST
- "Meucci cues suck"...granted, I'm sure this applied to their brand at some point in the past, but I've bought four new ones around 2019-2022 and they all play so well and fit/finish at the joints are better than my two more expensive Schons

Advice is just that someone idea to try and help you. Or drive you to purchase something. Best Advice is do you own research before taking advise as GOLD. Worst advice is or was Perfect Aiming System is Gold, IMHO it was Snake Oil.

Use Bob Owen or Jerry Rauenzahn to build your next custom cue.

I did……and more than just once too……and with both cue makers.

It’s still my best custom cue build experience & I acquired 2 great pals.

In 2012…….Dean Campbell…….Thank you Dean……I think of you often.

Best? Don't try to figure out justnum's shit. Should have heeded it. Needed psychotherapy ever since. ;)
I have only one person on ignore, him, and it's made the forum a thousand times better. The only downside is that if it's ever discovered, I'll never know which brand of chewing gum on a tip will improve my game by 2 balls. 😉

I asked for advice on how to make serious improvement in my game several years ago when I realized I wasn't getting any better even though I was spending more time than ever at the table.
I was told to get a good, personal instructor and pay for lessons. I did some research, found Jerry Briesath, and my game has taken off.

Yeah I miss Dean too. He hooked me up with an African Blackwood Runde that might just be my lifetime cue.

For the best advice I’ve received that would probably be from the “Ask the Mechanic” forum, and really the list is way too long to type out in this post.

No bad advice around here that I can recall. Good group of folks we have here, like minded for the most part.

One time, at band camp

I was headed out of town once when i played well enough to play almost anybody (by the game) and not get hurt too bad in an evening...I asked the azb about the action scene there, including what the bet range was and (bless him, I don't remember who it was) an azbro responded with 'they don't care there, they know you aren't leaving with it'.

I had to go in there. I played with mysel for about an hour and didn't hold back. Walked out and did not become a victim.
