What a great week in Betmore's Basement. Danny DiLiberto was in for 2 days, teaching straight pool and one pocket; telling his road stories; cooking "steak DiLiberto" for a nice dinner with the Betmore's, elvicash, AB, and wives. There is NO ONE who knows more about the intricacies of straight pool and onepocket than Danny D. (though I am aware that all onepocket players already know everything about the game).
Today another AZB'er Mark Griffin came to challenge for the Betmore Cup. As a wager, he wanted to put up the BCAPL or Diamond Billiards, which he CLAIMED he owned. I was much too smart for that kind of wager, and settled on the Brooklyn Bridge which he finally admitted he had bought from breakup.
The game was straight pool to 150, all ball fouls. After claiming he "hardly ever plays", he opened up with 26 and then a bunch more. I brought out my full scale sharking attack, and was finally able to claw my way back into it, and eke out the victory. Very close game - he plays SPORTY. Great fun.
P.S. - for the NYC AZB'ers I'm giving a discount on the bridge toll: 1/2 off. Just drop your change in the box at the end of the bridge (no toll booths yet), and I'll pick it up when I come to visit my new acquisition this Fall.......could you do something about those pigeons also....wheeewww, those pigeons are making a big mess on my new bridge.
