This weekend I invited myself over to williebetmore's for some 14.1, etc. Of course, he'll play ANYONE, so I made the trip Sunday. Upon arrival, everything was just as nice as I remember.
As I went to the fridge to grab some water, I noticed something new: a dozen Bud Lights. I can't prove that this was deliberate (even though this is the only beer I drink...), so we'll leave that alone.
Ignoring the tasty, cold, beer I proceeded to play Don a little 10-ball to warm up. We got into 14.1 pretty quickly, and I kludged my way to a 135-150 defeat.
Every time I went to the fridge for another water (I drink a LOT of these), those BL's kept calling out to me.
We broke up the 14.1 with a little one-hole (me, 3-0), and a little banks (him, 2 or 3 to zero).
By this time I've abandoned the water in favor of sweet sweet beer. It was inevitable, and it showed in my game. No more safeties, that's for sure...
We go back to 14.1 and 'drunk me' pulled out a narrow win, although if we hadn't had the beads to show me, I would have guessed I was 20+ balls behind. I don't think either of us ran much more than 20 in two 150-point games, although there were quite a few clearances of just one rack. Maybe we should practice break shots.
I had a great time, and will be back in a month or two to try to get a decent run on that really nice table. Good luck in Maryland, Don.
