Better Format/World Champ

So to get to the final 64, and you go through a round robin of short races with those in your group. Then you play a single elimination format, "that", I think, needs to be revamped, the single elimination race should be more exciting. If you play in any of the majors in tennis its a best three out of five sets, other events usually 2 out of three. When the players get to the final 64 in the World Championships, I think the format of race to 5 best 2 out of three, would be much better for the sport and the audience, with an automatic ?? minute break if the score is tied one set a piece. I think the cream would rise, or you could change it to race to 6, 2 out of 3, but time/table constraints speak loudly.

Now what is so wrong with just having a regular double elimination tournament, race to 11. And then having say the finals be a race to 15 or a best 2 outa 3, race to 11. Going with something like a best 2 outa 3 in a race to 5 is stupid, because most of the top players can run 5 racks. its too short of a match.

But thats just my opinion. Obviously what they have now works.

mathematically, with a 2 out of 3 race to 5 format, you can actually win MORE total games over a span of 3 races to 5 and LOSE.

I posted this before..

i think they should make the knockout stages to 7 games.. alt break.. and for the tournament keep it single elim, winner breaks.. but make them all a race to 17

or..............

change the format to best out of five sets.. races to seven winner breaks. if i broke first in the first set you break first in the second. hill hill matches if 6-6 for more excitement. but this would be thru out the whole tournament. with players seeded from 1 to 128. on tight pockets. NOW the best would rise to the top i think.


i like both of my ideas .. but i think the second one would be a bit more exciting.

PS it wouldnt matter who would win more games in the second idea.. it would be who can come thru in the clutch and win more SETs. Who can run the seven pack first. or.. who can come thru with the hill hill match.. or who can just dominate with safteys.. all the while the other dude has a chance to match cuz he gets to break first the next set. unless the loser got to break first then he is shit out of luck.. thats when the other player dominates.
