Here is how seriously the British take their betting on snooker. There is currently a major event in progress, and the betting window is open. In the upcoming match between Ryan Day and Marco Fu (a semi-final) you can make all of the following bets at the odds indicated. This is through Ladbroke's -- other betting sites probably offer slightly different odds.

(A "frame" in snooker is like a "rack" in pool.)

In some matches you can even bet who will pocket the first ball.

As far as I've seen these are the basics for snooker betting.

My first succesful bet on snooker was that the first color that will be potted will be the yellow, and it will be by Shaun Murphy :)
 
Yup, I place a few on the winner of the world championship every year. My best year was 2014 when I had bet on 3 out of 4 of the semi finalists at the outset. Made an nice profit that year.
 
its not serious at all, very little wagered and any large bet will be scrutinized prior to approval
 
When I was in London last year Hillary was an 11 to 3 favorite and Trump was a 3 to 11 underdog at Ladbrokes.
