Please indulge me for one more quick question, though. How much squirt would you anticipate experiencing over an 8' span? For instance, if you set the cb up in the center of the table, about a foot from the head rail, aim at the center diamond on the foot rail, and use a very firm stroke with a healthy dose of side spin, how far would you expect the cb to hit from the diamond?

Colin actually shows this shot and how far off center you have to aim just hit the center diamond on the end rail, shooting from about 8' away. It looks like a good ball and a half or two away.

Oh my, I don't know if you are going to like this answer. If you use parallel it would probably hit at least a ball and a half away. In other words if there was a ball there you would miss it completely. If you use BHE you would at least hit the ball.

You're a step ahead of me, Cap We're not talking about methods yet; this must be a completely un-compensated shot, so we can measure the amount of squirt we're experiencing in a completely unbiased manner. The way you shoot an un-compensated shot is illustrated below.

The green line runs from center diamond to center diamond, and through the center of the cb. To shoot an un-compensated shot, you should line your cue up with the red line. By doing this, you are aiming directly at the ghost ball (six-ball). So, if you're applying two tips of right, your cue should be on a straight line through the cueball (at the two-tip point) and through the same point on the ghost ball. By aiming this way, you are maintaining the same line you would use if you were not using any english at all (center of the cb aimed directly at the center of the ghost ball).

So, Cap casts his vote for 3 3/8" of squirt on this shot?
