Big Al's - New giant Sports bar in Vancouver, WA

Todd,
Where is this new place (never mind, I figured that part out)? Do you know what their hours are? Hopefully they open before late afternoon as there hasn't been a pool hall open before 3 or so on this side of the river. Up for some 1-pocket, straight, or snooker sometime soon?

Checked out BIG AL's

Went to Big Al's today...lotsa room around the tables but to my dissatisfaction, the usual happened. There is no place to sit and watch other players at the pool tables unless you sit right in the pit. There are about 15 booths elevated just above the pool tables ,but, they have a small one foot wall just high enough to NOT see the tables. This is a real good layout in the pit, plenty of room, RED Cloth, tables play pretty solid, can't remember the new model of Brunswick. It has the wide curve by the side pockets. It is $12 per hour.

Hey Jackson-
Yeah I had the same thoughts regarding the layout of viewing areas until I came to a conclusion. This place was not built around having a pool atmosphere. It was just an adder to entice people to come in a check the place out. The architect was not a pool player, if he was they (like you said) would have lowered that wall a foot so you could sit there and watch the action. When I was playing there was a family sitting above and a 7 year old kid was watching me play but he had to near climb up on the rail to peek his head over. It would have been better to make that wall plexi-glass so at least you could look through it to see the tables. I also enjoyed the pit other than they should have made the wall solid all the way around to the upper portion so noone could walk through by your table. Would make hell on the servers but so be it. Its all about me. HEHE. The tables did play nice though.

On some side notes:
Jackson: If the tables are still available I will finally be moving into a house in January and would love to purchase one. If you want to get together and get some money down I will be at Halftime every Wednesday for a few months for ACS league starting tomorrow.

Bill:
I would love to come play again. Any time to shoot on a 10' snooker or 9 footer at ones house is always a treat. I have a super important job at work next week that I will be spending the next 10+ days devoted to it so I will not be available. After the 24th would be cool. I will ask around and see if we can get a poll BBQ or something going on a weekend in october (not to invite ourselves) at ur house since you said as much. Would be a fun day I think. ajrack should come as well.

Todd & Jackson,
Sounds good to me (BBQ). Don't worry about inviting yourself over, that's what the tables are there for (besides my own enjoyment of them). How about we set it for the 7th?
