Big Apple Nine Ball Challenge on Tap

whew!!

sjm, thanks for sharing. it was nice of you to even take down notes. it's very helpful to those who haven't seen the games like me. often the final score does not say it all. after knowing archer won the big apple but before reading your report on his match against parica, i instantly thought he so threatening. he almost made it to the finals of wpc and now he's got the big apple. i'm not trying to take away anything from the man though. there's no denying he's in great shape, but his game wasn't flawless so he'll be a pretty formidable opponent but definitely not invincible (no one is). i'm looking forwad to see some great action from him on On Cue 3.

I imagine you are going to the championships next month so azbilliards forum members might want to start another sponsorship of you and getting you a wifi lap top computer so you can give us live action updates. If it was done for rude dog and jimmy m , maybe we can do it for you. In this day and age I am amazed no t.d. are not doing this yet in these big tournaments. I hate these delayed broadcasts. LOL.

I'm sad to say I will not attend the US pen next month. Thanks for the positive feedback, and I'm glad to have had the chance to "unofficially" cover an event in my home town.

As the others said, this was fantastic coverage! I really enjoyed reading, and I almost felt like I was there.

It's a good thing you didn't stay til the end 'cause if you did, you would've probably been ready to hang yourself as I was. After the trickshot show and after I pulled out the raffles, and after all else was said and done, the final match got started at 11 PM and it was done by 2:10 AM. There should be a law against notoriously slow players playing against each other! LOL Still though, there were some good shots being made. I'm surprised that Scott didn't put them on the clock as he did with JJ and Parica.

9ballgirl,

You are right on the money about slow 9-ball play!! It is Jeremy Jones that is the slowest and should be the only person who should be on a 20 second clock. Just check out the 2003 us open 9ball finals with Jones and Parcia. I was able to paint each room in my house between shots...

Are you kidding me? I was there! Do you remember that first row of pooligans by the TV table doing the wave and holding up some numbers to rate the shots? That was me! And yes, it's a good thing we did those silly things 'cause otherwise, instead of seeing the wave on the Accustat tape, you'd see a whole bunch of heads nodding off!

Matter of fact, when Jones played Parica on Sunday, I thought of the '03 US Open and was like "deja vu like a motherflower!" ;)

Gotta agree, 9ballgirl. Jones, whom I deeply respect as both a person and a player, can be absolutely lethargic.

One tendency he has is to spend a considerable amount of time reacting to one of his own shots, and has a habit of seeming slightly dejected and mentally regrouping when he misses shape by three inches, yet leaves shape that most of his fellow pros would consider more than adequate. He also has an unusually long pre-shot routine and it takes him a while just to get over the cue ball. These qualities do make him a little boring to watch, even though he's such a wonderful player.
