Big Birdseye and Curly Koa

I was told the koa wood is a little different on each island.

that makes sense.i have a bunch of it and i have some that is almost twice as dense as other pieces i have.huge variance for the species.

i would like to find out which island has the densest and strongest trees,it would make buying it much easier.

thanks everyone for the compliments on the cue.

Great looking cues deserve good honest compliments.

cue looks great. glad to see you back and in still in fine form.

from what i've heard, the big island is supposed to have the nicest koa, i.e. harder to come by and more $. i'm not sure if that translates into denser wood.

my presumption would be yes because these are older and native, while other koa where planted/raised and not necessarily native.

could be wrong tho.

makes sense anyway.thanks.

Mr Postman came by and dropped off the cue today.

It is gorgeous - sick woods, perfect blend of colours, glossy finishing, classy ringworks, and with some serious shaft wood. The birdseye is sick, but the koa is even more deadly.

Can't wait to try it after work. Will post pix soon, though i doubt any pix can bring out the true beauty of this cue.

Thanks so much Mason.
