I have a big G (Gandy) and am interested in making play like or close to a diamond any recommendations or idea if this is doable and the cost. Thanks in advance for any help,

Well, you're not going to get it to play like a Diamond per say, but yes...the Big G can be made to play at it's best, meaning you'd be able to bank the cue ball 5 times the lenght of the table, and 9 rails around. Where are you located?

Glen, on a properly tuned GC, how many table lengths should it bank?
(Sorry for changing the subject.)

All depends on the type of cushions you want to put on the Gandy G....K55 cushions will be a lot more work to the rails......K66 cushions won't need as much rail work.....but still sub-rail work and calibrations needed for what ever cushion you want put on the table.

How about the frame Mark?
There was a pool hall here with Big G tables.
It had as much vibration as Murrey tables.
Also the top rails looked warped on some of them.

Sure Joey...with out doubt the frames are not as strong on most tables....that's why the Brunswick and Diamond tables are the leaders...most all rails have some type of warp in them....they straighten when you bolt them on the tables......Brunswick has the best frame in the world....actually the GC5 frame is to strong for the slate....For the money the Gandy Big G was and OK table years back....The demand for better tables today is more than ever....Because the players are starting to understand the quality of different tables....look how the guy's here on this forum know a lot about the tables and aren't table mechanic's.....a lot of the guy's give the right info before a mechanic can answer.....and that's a good thing for people to know what's right on tables.

The frame isn't bad on a Gandy Big G, it's just not built like a Diamond or Gold Crown, so it wasn't built with overkill in mind. Of the top 5 tables built that I'll even work on, Gandy's are in that top 5. Mark is right, you can either put a K55 profile cushion on the rails, or the K66 cushions, but there's only one way to do either set of cushions as they both don't share the same nose height. Without going into the details, if the rails are built for either set of cushions, the end results will be 5 times the length of the table and 9 rails around. Pockets can be tightened the same as a Diamond or Gold Crown...BUT, it all depends on who does the work, and if they truly know what they're doing as the end results will always speak the truth.
