Big Props to Barry!!

This is really huge. I've said for years that if we want to see way more pool on tv we need to pit the men vs. women.

I would love to see all the unisex matches on the tv table with shot clocks and when you get that glorious "upset" like Jasmin defeating Earl with Earl just losing it then you will have something you can air.

I just hope they don't just air the finals.

Accustats should make out like bandits on this deal.

I would be supprised if male players at the highest level could get thier ego bruised by losing to a female.I know when I first started playing guys would tease "you lost to a girl" and I assumed it must meant something...but It means absolutely nothing.

While this may be true to some degree, you are also assuming that the ENTIRE U.S Open is made up of highest level/great sportsmanship players.
On the contrary.
You are going to have A LOT of men, who are not of the highest caliber, either in class, or in their game.

I agree with Superstar that Karen plays way better against the men. Her all around game is amazing. Jasmin as well, she has great finishes against the worlds best men and she just keeps getting better. She is proof that if you play with the men from the beginning, you will be competitive, if not winning against them.

Fatboy, I know I am not the best female player and I have no grand idea that I will win the US Open. I can only try my best and see what happens. At least then I can be a part of something, say I tried it and definitely say that I gave it my all. I know there are plenty of men that go to that tournament with the same attitude.

I am curious to see what happens!

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

It was great to finally meet you at SBE!

Your comments on Karen are absolutely correct. I've watched her play in way too many Joss events. When she finally won her first, the crowd was obviously on her side. I've only had the pleasure of playing her once. Here in Rochester. As some of the other posters on this thread have said, I got the "you lost to a girl" crap for a long, long time. My thoughts were, I had lost to a better player on that day.

You and Karen are class acts. Both of you and some of the other female pro players will do very well in Virginia. It can only make the game of pool better. And that can only be good for all of us. Good luck!!!!

Lyn
