Biggest Spot you have been given?

I have given a guy 10-2 in one pocket of course he had to bank his 2. We played $10/game and I won $60! I know not much but hey it was something! paid for time that night!! I also gave my bro-in-law every single ball in 9ball for 5 a game winner breaks!man that was tough!! Glad he cant break!! I ended up winning 5 bucks which surprised me because at the time he was a half decent player he dont play much now though!
 
thats tough giving someone the rack in 9ball, and still comming out ahead.

The biggest spot i have given someone, was this kid who comes into the pool hall and is always trying to bet someone, but always wants weight, so i start off by giving him the opening break and the wild 8 in a race to 3 for
5$ since he is only like 16. I beat him 3-0.

Well then he wants to quit cuz i beat him so bad, so we agree on, he gets all the breaks and the call 7 and wild 8, and i still beat him 3-0. and then he finally quits. Needless to say he stopped asking me to play lol.

This was a long time ago, but a guy with a lot of money as well as being an habitual gambler that couldn't play worth crap but thought he could, was getting the break, ball in hand if a ball was made on the break, one hand width with the CB on all shots up to the 7 ball, and one mulligan to be used at his discretion any time in the rack. In other words, he got to take a shot over again with the balls placed in the same spot that they were in. He was playing against a damn good player that could run multiple racks. It was a close race over the 3-4 hours that they played, but the guy with the spot just had too much going for him and prevailed for about a grand.

My guess is, if HE made that bet knowingly, you would have lost. He knew exactly what he was doing and what he needed. I once made a bet with someone on the golf course that I would have to tee off on each hole while hitting off of one knee. He slurped up that bet like a man who was out in the desert for 3 days without any water. What he didn't know is that I practiced that shot all the time for fun and to amuse people. I was able to hit it straight and about 220-235. When I did just that on the first tee, his face sunk and he knew it was going to be a long day. And it was...to the tune of $300.
 
Given; 20+ years ago I was spotted 100-2 playing 14.1, I had to make my two in the side and was playing a 100 + runner. We broke even ;) and he explained the gaff shortly after!! I was given 50-25 in 3C against a pretty sporty 3C player...over several days I got the dough and he vowed never to play me again. Disclaimer: I am not a 3C player by no stretch, LOL!!

Gave out; 100-40 in 14.1 and 10-5 playing One Pocket. The 14.1 was easier than the 10-5, no doubt!

I played our own forum pro here in about 79 or 80 at Willies in Midway City. he gave me the 4 and the breaks for 20 a game on the bar box, with the big ball. I was 21 years old and been playing serious for a couple of years and this was when Evil was in his prime and he butchered me! It was only chump change for him but that was a lot of money for me at that time. We played for maybe 2 and 1/2 hours and I lost I think 400 dollars. In that entire time, I swear he never missed a ball. I'm not saying I didn't win some games but if I came up dry on the break or was hooked, I'd push out and he ran out or would lock me up and throw away the key. I thought I had a fair shot with this spot but it wasn't pretty from my perspectivel The last time I saw him was in Vegas around 6 years ago. I had just flown in from europe and I was talking with Dicky AKA stuckhorse when Keith walked over and Dicky says to Keith " you remember Steve " and I said, he never talked to me he just butchered me. Keith just smiled said nothing and went over and tried to get some action started with some of the players there for the big 8 ball Valley Nationals or whatever tournament it is every year in May I believe.

That goes back to if someone wants to bet they can do something they probably can. This is a bit off topic but fits with the spirt of spotting. An old tine dart player taught me this one. When things are slow around the pool tables. Offer that guy that seems to always get the best you a game of darts. Play 301 or 501. Tell him since you are a much better dart player than he is offer to double all his scores. If he hits a 10 it counts as 20, double 7 would be 28 etc. The trick is to try and beat him flat every game without letting him get close to getting out. When he gets in range to get out the twist becomes apparent. It’s impossible to get out in 301 or 501 doubling all scores. When all scores are doubled you can only get to even numbers not odd. So the first time he tries to get out the “game” is over so the more you win up front the longer the “game” lasts.
 
When I was about 19, Scotty T. gave me the 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 playing 9-ball on a bar box. Sounds like a "can't lose" right? O yea, did I mention he got all of the breaks. That being said I lost 5 in a row and never got out of my chair. I paid him and wrote that down in my "book". What did I write down you ask? NEVER GIVE A CHAMPION THE BREAKS! :(
 
Some outrageous spots

I have been offered the "wild" rack.....now that is a spot. I was so dumb didnt accept it then....sure as hell would now.

I get 2 games going to 5, given by several players that I would play even. I gotta like that. (9 ball and 8 ball)

I have been given 2 games going to 5 with the 7 and the 8. (and lost).

The latest I am getting 1 game going to 3 verses the merciless Christd. (I think I am about even with this spot).

Biggest one pocket spot is 12-4 (that was a loser).

Snooker is 10 point spot with 3 cherrys. (that was a winner)

I find that most players will "over give" the spot. The secret is to reconized the advantage and play that way.

i remember a guy getting ready for the us open 2002

he couldnt get much action and was giving people a race to 7 for $30

he got the breaks , nine on the break would be spotted and if he
didnt run out it was a loss

he came out pretty close to even maybe down a little after a weekend of this
 
The two biggest spots I have ever been given in 9 ball were the last 5 and the last 4 and the breaks. They were both races to 9 for 5 bucks. Me and my buddy were just kinda bored so we wanted something to do. I won with the last 5, 9-3 but lost with the last 4 and the breaks, 9-4.
 
Funny to see this. A guy in the local room is a hell of a shooter. He's been out of commission for a long time too. He broke his ankle and hasn't played for months. Within the last week or two, he just started to get back to it and offered another guy the 4,5,6,7, and 9, and all of them counted on the breaks too. He still wound up winning by a landslide!
 
Any ball spot.

I used to play a guy in 9-ball who was quite a bit better than me and I negotiated to be able to take any ball of my choice off the table once per rack at any time I wanted during the rack while I was shooting. It was a good spot that evened us up a lot (but not enough for me to win usually) because he could run out about 50% of the time if the layout didn't have any major problems and I tended to get myself hung up at some point during my runs. Taking any ball I wanted off the table allowed me to finish out a lot more runs when there was one ball that was difficult to get position on. Of course, if I removed a ball and then missed later it helped him too. It's a lot more valuable spot than the 8 or 9 or any single ball. Mostly the good players in my area will only give up "games on the wire" spots that I find to be almost worthless against a much better player. For that matter, if you are playing a really good player who can run out whenever he/she should (and you don't most of the time) and plays good safeties there are very few spots that give you a real chance. I think pool is designed to be played between players of very close ability levels; when playing for money, anything else is a bad idea if you are the weaker player unless you are a master spot-negotiater. I love the guys who offer you a "games on the wire" spot that they KNOW they will win and they say you don't have any "heart" when you decline the offer. Too many losers in pool halls trying to take other people's money instead of getting a job :)
