Jimmy Fusco introduced me to Bill in the late seventies, and I saw him play one pocket a couple of times back then in the Philadelphia area. About twenty years later, I saw him when he graced the 1999 National Straight Pool Championships with his presence.

Nice man with a nice game. He was personable and classy. Weenie will be missed.

Weenie Beenie and Ervolino are probably racking them up for a game of One Pocket right about now.

I used to really enjoy when he did commentary for alot of the Accu-Stats 14.1 productions. He always had good insight, good stories and like SJM said, seemed like a really good guy.

I wasn't fortunate enough to know Weenie Beenie, but I really enjoyed his commentary on Accu-stats. I hate hearing about about older players passing, because I think we as a pool playing community lose a lot of pool's history in this process. This is one of the reasons why I think what Steve Booth is doing at Onepocket.org is so important; I think his site is perhaps the first attempt at writing down pool history with regard to one-pocket and banks. Pool will miss Weenie Beenie.

I join in passing along condolences to the Staton family. I had the honor of meeting Bill Staton briefly years ago, and found him to be as friendly and elegant as I had heard for years. Great pool player with an impeccable reputation...he lived a full, robust life.

He came through my home room a number of years ago. He introduced himself to me (I was behind the counter) as a pool hustler. He inquired if anyone played some good one pocket. I recognized his voice from accustat tapes and asked him if he was weenie beenie. He looked surprised. We had a good conversation and he hung out. People knew who he was and gave him a great amount of respect. He did not match up at my place- but I think he went to the other place.

I am sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. He was a champion and conducted himself like a real gentleman.

My condolences also to his family. He was truly a gentleman pool player - always carried himself with dignity and showed respect to all - and it was a real treat to hear him tell pool stories in his smooth-as-silk voice. He will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace, Bill.

I did not know him personally, but I enjoyed the stories that Sonny Springer has told me of good times they had.
Best Wishes to His family.
