Billard equipment shop in Chicago area?

Hi,

I am new to AZBilliards (so far only reading) and also to the Chicago area (western suburbs, O'Hare area).

I am looking for a good shop in this area, that has a wider variety of decent cues/brands (Joss +/- quality and price wise). It would be perfect, if the shop also allowed me to try some strokes (with chalk :)) before I buy.

Can you recommend a place?

Thanks for your precious help ;) !

My recommendation is Pro-Tyme Billiards in Orland Park. They've got a well-stocked pro shop with plenty of production cues and a nice selection of customs. They also have a small table there so you can get some hits in, too.

As suggested, Pro-Tyme is an EXCELLENT resource. However, Chris's Billiards is only about 15 minutes from you (get off Rte. 90 at Lawrence, proceed to Milwaukee Ave.; the room is about three blocks south) and offers a fine selection of cues per your specs. GF

If you live near O'Hare, then Pro-Tyme in Orland is a fairly easy (20 minutes or so) drive down 294 from you (assuming it's not rush hour).

There are a bunch of cue-n-cushion stores north and west of chicago that are big Olhausen table dealers. I know they have some production cues, but I'm not sure which brands and how good their selection is.

Pro-Tyme is a good 20 minutes from 294 after you exit the tollway, it's probably 45minutes to an hour to Schaumburg.

Hi,

thanks for the tip with Pro-Tyme. I don't mind driving, if it is worth it.
I tried cue-n-cushion, but they had only a larger variety of McDermotts, but not much else. And no option to try the cues. I got the impression, that they understand themself as selling all you need for a nice show-off Billard room, but not sporting equipment.

Thanks again,
