Great collection!!!
Any chance of a Buy it Now price?
No. Once an item is bid on, the Buy It Now option can't be used (unless the item has a reserve that's not met). This is a terrific assortment of books and I'll be in the bidding mix at the end.

Just curious-are you buying to read them?

I just cant imagine anyone with any kind of interest in pool books not having many of them. Ill bid what i feel the Rags/Rifleman is worth plus 15 bucks.

I could've put them up seperately but I didn't want to hassle with multiple auctions on these. I knew the Rags to Rifleman and the Blue Book would be the main attractions. I just started reading the "Billiards" book by Grissom, it's pretty good. Has one of the best descriptions of dead stroke that I have seen in print.

Last year, a copy "Rags to Rifleman" went for $325 on eBay. When I see a price that high, I have to wonder if someone is selling the book to themselves to make a phony market. I see a single copy in the used book market ( http://used.addall.com/ ) for $380. About $90 is a fair price, but you can probably get it for $50 if you wait.

Bob, if you ever get it for $50, you can make $30 off me.

Rags to Riffleman

Youre kidding me right? That book sells for over $300! I have a copy that my uncle gave to me when he found out I was a pool fan. Ive never even read it. Its not in bad condition either. I just flipped throught it the other day. My uncle was at an estate sale and bought a small cue collection and thought he would buy me a book to read. Im taking it to the OPEN and hopefully Buddy will sign it. Man Ive got some reading to do!

Dag-nab-it Bob Jewett! Let some of the little people get a crack at this auction before your monster bids!!!

Hey, I added up low eBay on the items and put in a little extra for the inscription in the Blue Book. I suspect that I will not be the high bidder after the snipers appear at the bell. If I do win, Nostroke has dibs on the Hall book.

You can't really pay much attention to isolated eBay bids or the prices attached to single-listed items on the used book searches. For example, Wayland Marlow's book about pool physics is listed used for $200 to $350. I'm selling them for $30 including shipping. The amusing thing is that one of the sellers gets her copies from me. I suppose I need better advertizing. I have about 60 of them.

As for "Rags to Rifleman," I've also seen it go for $43.

"Rags to Rifleman" should sell for $100.00 to $150.00. The question would really be - Does he have the promotion Buddy Hall / W.W. Woody Poster signed by Buddy Hall, that was distributed out with the book in1996. The reason to wonder, is he have Huckleberry Publishing Co. business card. When searching for books I use http://www.fetchbook.info

Damn- I have most of those- wish he would sell the Rags to Rifleman separately-that's the one i need.

Me too!!

It can be bought on Amazon.com - used, signed, shipping from Florida, for $377.!! right now. Don't think it will happen for me.

With these prices Buddy should think about getting it published again!! And hopefully sell it for a price that will make it affordable.

NO :-(( But I used to have several of them along with about 10 BRAND NEW autographed copies that we sold in Germany. When I left Germany in 1999 there were like 3 brand new copies left and from what I understand they were all given away. I don't think I ever took the posters out of the shipping tube I put them in to transport them back to Germany.

I have never been much of a collector in the sense that I buy things for what they might be worth in the future. I just buy things I like and they accumulate. After I couldn't find my last copy of Rags to Rifleman a few years ago I was shocked to see the prices the book was fetching.

The LESSON: Don't ever, ever, ever loan your billiard books out. My Winning One Pocket and Shots, Moves, and Strategies went this way. My Billiard Encyclopedia was similarly hijacked. The one pocket books would be on the block while I would probably keep the Billiard Encyclopedia.

John

I actually met W.W. Woody during my travels through Florida in the late 90's. At least I think I remember meeting him at a tournament in Kissimmee with Buddy.

That's the one everybody needs. That's why he won't sell it separately, he wants to get rid of the ones everybody already has.
