Billiard Clubs

I am curious ... are there any paid membership clubs in the US? If so, where and contact information. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you mean. There are many places that are open to the public but offer memberships as well. This is a benefit to anyone who plays regularly since the cost of a monthly membership may be way lower than if you just paid for the table every time you played.

As far as private clubs go, the Illinois Billiard Club I believe is private but I'm not positive on that. There are several guys here on AZB who play out of there. I'm certain one of them can confirm or correct me.

BTW, you may want to re-think your avatar. Doesn't go so well with your screen name.:grin-square:

The Illinois Billiard Club is about 35 years old and has been owned by a gentleman named Jim Parker since its beginning. It's not open to the public, only to members and their guests. It has one 9 foot Gold Crown, five 9 foot Brunswick Anniversaries, and two antique 5x10 billiard tables (one is convertible to pool). It's a very nice place. It occupies half of a building - the other half is a catering business owned by Jim and Bonnie Parker.

Table time is not paid on a monthly basis but rather by the hour, $4 per hour per person. There is an annual membership fee of $120. The club is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and by special arrangement.

The IBC runs a straight pool league with two divisions for different skill levels. We currently have about 24 players in the league.

Here is the website, which has pics and history of the club:

Thanks, Rich. I thought it was private but I didn't know it was an annual membership fee and the members paid for table time.

I know of numerous public rooms that offer monthly memberships but like a country club, there is no charge for table time. It's covered in the monthly dues.

I am a member of the Minneapolis Billiard Club. We are a private organization for members and guests of members only. We charge a monthly membership fee for 24hr unlimited access. Currently, we have one 9ft Diamond pool table, one 7ft Diamond pool table and two Verhoeven heated billiard tables. We currently have about 17 members. Oh yeah....can't forget those monthly poker games...A total blast :D

Thanks for the input. A german team member talked of the private Billiard Clubs common in Europe and I was wondering if such a thing existed in the US. Here, there are no billiard or snooker tables available in a city of 239,000 with a relatively high median income. One would probably not work here in the south.

As for my avatar ... well, no one ever ask me for an airplane ride.

I belonged to a PBC when I lived in Germany... fantastic concept and good times while there!

I've formed a Board of Directors in my current area and we are in the process of opening "My PBC", a Private Billiards Club for members and temporary members only! Our goal is 10- 7' tables, 1- Snooker table, 1-9' Table, 1- 3 Cushion Table, full service bar, bar snacks (no kitchen)!

We will charge a membership paid annually and allow Temporary Memberships on a day-day basis. This will allow the public to come in for a small "temp membership" fee for the day.

Weekly leagues, tournaments, quarterly main events, etc. Pool, darts, poker, and several other bar sport events available.

We have a "Letter of Intent to Join" being written and going into circulation in the near future to get a list of pre-members.

Thanks,
Zim

Jacob- You would be a perfect fit for "My PBC"! Anyone can join thru our Membership Application Process (once we get things going).

Did I mention FREE pool Monday-Thursday, hourly Fri-Sun. Leagues will be Mon-Thurs and tournaments Fri-Sun!

We will talk more at Baxters!
Thanks,
Zim

i have heard of a few-however I never verified it, one i think is in northcarlonia.

When I get my house sold i'm going to open a private club. I dont care if it loses $$$, if it makes $$$, I will donate 100% of the profit to a charity. this is down the road, might be 6 months or 3 years, it just depends on a few things going my way as how soon it is going to happen.
