Billiard Slates

I've kinda wondered I quartz like they make quartz countertops would work. It's more of a man made product.

It would be EXPENSIVE as fk to make pieces big enuff for a pool table. Slate is the perfect material. Why some won't accept that is beyond me.

I don't think a change is needed from slate , I was just wondering if quartz would work.
 
In 1981 I got a Brunswick 9' furniture table with 1.25" 'Brunstone'. Never saw one again. I'm pretty sure is was a composite material. It was brown.
 
bvm told me a man in belgium or the netherlands cant recall made a slate for his carom table out of a thermoplastic. worked fine i was told. too expensive and alot less rigid a table tho i imagine

My parents had a quartz coffee-table (top) that thing chipped all the time when things got dropped on it.

I suspect quartz would not survive jumps and massés.
