Emulating American entertainer Dean Martin, a 12-year-old boy growing up in 1960s Rome picked up a pool stick. That boy, with pool cue in hand, would go on to nab multiple international billiards titles in a career spanning three decades.

Thirty-nine years later, at 51 years old, he emulated Martin one more time — this time taking a shot at citizenship.

Fidgeting with his gold cuff links once worn by the icon, who had Italian roots himself, Stefano Pelinga sat quietly in the third row of chairs inside a room at Lloyd D. George United States Courthouse Friday morning. He and 45 other people born outside of the country in places such as Iran, Canada, Japan and Russia, took the oath of American citizenship.

Something wrong with that math...a 12 year old in 1960s Rome would be well north of 51 years of age...closer to 61. He would have been 12 in 1976...either he's older than 51 (unlikely) or the writer miss-wrote the reference to picking up a pool cue in the 1960s...

Writer messed up, I think. He was born in 1964. Here is his Wiki page --> HERE

What a great guy! I've watched him play a few times (mostly trick shots) and can see he is a true gentleman and a credit to the sport.

Stafano Penlingua is a true gentleman, the kind of man that Americans would be proud to welcome to our country, as a citizen.

Way to go Stefano... looking for ward to shaking your hand...
