happy to free up my mind finally to go for the other magenta scores and my Doctorate with Honors Diploma :)

Bring it on. If you pass my scores, it will give me reason to start practicing again. 🤓

(Next goal is 94 in Exam II Doctorate and 86 in Exam I, getting Diploma and while working on getting it framed improving my Exam I score to at least 94 😆 (97 is the official score to beat))

Sounds good. Go for it!

joining the 170 club with

F1:10 + F2:10 + F3:8 + F4:6 + F5:6 + F6:9 + F7:16 + F8:16 = 81 in Exam I

the goal of 86 in Exam I feels right around the corner...

Nice job! Next stop ... 180!

FYI, I've updated your info in the original post.

have a question for the RDS challenge. Level 1 is optional?

(in the manual it says Optional Level 1, 6 balls, pocket OB directly with no CB)
takes more time to clean the balls then actually running them 😥

We changed that after the original release. It is not good to hit and mark up OBs; and as you point out, it was too easy and a pain to clean the balls. We left it in as an optional level since it might be appropriate and useful for complete novice players.

Exam I: 88 out of 100:
F1:10 + F2:10 + F3:10 + F4:6 + F5:8 + F6:10 + F7:16 + F8:18 = 88

92 in Exam II should be a piece of cake

Nice job! I just updated your info on the list in the first post of the thread.

for the next BU Challenge consider adding a nice trophy for the first price.

It's probably not true for everybody, but a nice trophy (worth 70 - 100 $ with shipping) to put in my pool room would motivate me personally more than an additional 1000 $ price money.

I think the price money from the last challenge was near perfect (significantly more and it attracts pros).

Just something to consider :)

I think you are right about the "not true for everybody" part here. You can buy a big trophy on your own if you want with $1000! 🤓 ;)
Regardless, I still like the trophy idea.

... but we want to attract pros! In our previous challenge, is was great seeing Tobias Bongers (German pro) and Margaret Fefilova (top female pro from Belarus) really crush the Exams after lots of dedicated practice.

Just something to consider :)

Thanks for your input.

It's something special about winning a trophy, not buying me a trophy from my own money. As soon as I get prize money it becomes just a small part of money own, same as every month for paying bills and buying food...

Got it. You just want a trophy ... not money. I'll remember that if you place in a future challenge. 🤓

it's more like more money doesn't make that much happier. (Like having twice as much doesn't make you twice as happy. More like twice as much makes for same increment in happiness. So that earning 50.000 a year instead of 25.000 makes you a little happier. But to get the same increment of happiness again another 25.000 would not cut it. You would have to have your salary doubled once again. This is what studies of happiness found out.)

I wouldn't want to get less money than second place. (Because I would compare myself with second place or first place of last challenge and would frame the price in some level of personally perceived fairness.) But if first price would be 5000$ or 6000$ would not make that much difference for me.

But seeing the nice trophy in my pool room for the next 20 years would make me a little happier every time I come down to practice.

it's more semantics, but I wouldn't consider Tobias Bongers a pro. He is a very solid player but he is not able to support himself from playing pool and this would be my definition of a pro.

About 1 hour from where I live (in south Germany) is a nice pool hall with a 5 Euro weekly tournament and about 50 Euro for first price. Before Covid there were 6 - 10 players from the level of Tobias Bongers to be found there almost weekly. (It probably is the craziest 5 Euro weekly tournament in Europe from the level of players, but still...)

His level of play is nowhere near that of Souquet, Hohman, Filler, Shaw, SVB, Orcollo, Appleton. These players fit my definition of a pro (in terms of level of play and the way they are able to support themselves through pool).

Margaret is a pro player, since pool is her main source of income. I think it's only possible because of the low income levels in her country (in relation to pool price money in women tournaments) and it could still get tough to support a family from playing pool alone, but she would fit my criteria of pro player because it's her main income (at least for now).

Understood. Again, I love the trophy idea. I'll make that part of the plan for the next BU Exam Challenge.

FYI, Side Pocket (Scott) just posted a 92 on Exam II!!!

just checked the video from Scott (Side Pocket) to get some tips for Exam II.

Impressive performance on drills 7 and 8 getting 13 out of 14 points. But there is a mistake in the overall calculation.

Total score is only 91:

BU Exam II (Doctorate): S1:10 + S2:15 + S3:14 + S4:13 + S5:12 + S6:7 + S7:6 + S8:7 + S9:4 + S10:3 = 91
