Billiard woes in the Philippines...

SVB in the Philippines?!?

Well, at least according to this article:

Biado shows up visiting billiards foes

Carlo Biado showed yet another proof why he is one of the top rising stars
in Philippine billiards as he turned back two visiting world-renowned cue
artists in separate challenge matches Wednesday night at One-Side
Billiards in Ermita, Manila.

The 24-year-old mainstay of the star-studded Bugsy Promotions of
businessman Perry Mariano and a member of the Billiards Managers and
Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) defeated former World
10-Ball champion Shane Van Boening of the United States, 21-14, for the
P200,000 pot.

He then followed it up with a 21-16 trashing of current Taiwanese
sensation Ko Pin-Yi for a P100,000 purse.

"I'm very proud to beat two of the world's top players today. It inspires
me to strive even harder, and I hope that in the near future I could
achieve their status," said Biado, who was the runner-up in the Bulacan
leg of the First Senate President Manny Villar Cup last July.

More that fattening his pocket, those twin victories also boosted Biado's
stock for the forthcoming National Billiards League, where he could be
among the top picks.

Meanwhile, pool maestro Efren "Bata" Reyes leads a group top Filipino cue
artists in gracing the finals showdown between ABS-CBN and Team
Bulacan Media Organization (Team-bog) for the Villar Cup Media Edition
crown today at the AMF-Puyat Billiards Center in StarMall Edsa,
Mandaluyong City.

I watched last night's rematch with Perry and SVB evened-up the match score at 1-1. The score last night was 21-18 for 100k Pesos. I heard that SVB beat Gomez in a match after Biado's but we didn't stay for that as it already was 3am. Dennis can't play because he just got a tooth pulled.

This is all transpiring at the new BMPAP pool joint at the Player's Den which is primarily a poker hall headquarters of the Philippine Poker Tour (Dennis' sponsor). The action isn't in One-Side anymore.

On the same same street as One-side, Mabini. It was the former Rack N Roll Billiards so you may have been there if you were here in WPC 2006.

that's cool, we were sad watching it abandoned last year... More poker action there now?
And what is wrong about One Side? Action I mean...

hey edwin

do they (bscp/ye/rya/asalvador/cohorts) actually have sponsors ???

where's yen going to get all these prize funds,,unless he's going break-out his "dirty monies" they stole from the people's treasures during Marcos time...

.... a salvador thinks and would like people to believe that yen is correct and players are wrong...

..well ,,they got friends here in AZB that believes them,(dunno how many they are herein AZB ownership)..i know for fact thst jerry f. is a supporter of yen...(i might get banned for saying this)... but i think by JF siding with these vultures in RP..--i just lost my respect for him(i don't it matters what i feel anyways)...

From what I heard and see, San Miguel didn't commit the 20M that Yen wanted. Pagcor's release of the 30M is iffy until they investigate further why they were told that Efren and the rest are playing when it's obvious now that they aren't.

Let's just wait and see what happens in the next few day. I still haven't seen tv ads on the local channels.

I have two of my friends playing in world 10 ball. This is the e-mail I received from one of my friends who is already there.

"Hangin out here in Manila waiting for the world 10ball to kick off. It has been raining every day. I guess it's still typhoon season. There was an earth quake yesterday too. It woke me up. My bed was rockin back and forth. I was not sure if i should run out side or pray. As i was on the 6th floor i decided both options could be in vain so i went back to sleep. haha I went to the venue yesterday to check out the practice tables. They not there. haha. It seemed to me they were way behind schedule as far as setting up the venue. But you never know with these guys. They prob work all thru the night and the place be kickin today.
Have not seen a drawer yet. Which is unusual as play is due to start tomorrow. Maybe they will do it today. I better check out www.worldtenball.com

All kind of rumours are been spread around by the players that have been forced to boycot the event. They say no one will get paid. There is no money and no sponsors.
Ian Anderson has assured me all is well and no problem what so ever. We can only wait and see".

It's very unusual for a World Championship that will be rolling tomorrow and still no draw/brackets. The past 2 WPCs, the draws were already up 2 weeks before the start date.

I just hate to see the players who went out of their way and invested their time and their own money just to get there, all dressed up and no where to go...

it won't happen but...

,,if BMPAP members esp. reyes and the top dogs will continue their stand against yen ... without a doubt,, Pagcor will withdraw theirs too,,,

yen is tryng to play "able"..their wordings on their site is so arrogant..

if they decide to go ahead with this WTBC.. then YEN is going to get wiped out financially and won't be able to anything again under his banner..

yen/raya/cohorts are soooo arrogant....

tell the guys don't worry about that carrot they are dangling,, few entities have a string on it- not just yen/cohorts...

i feel sad for my pareng marlon... wished he stood with the rest of the pillars ..
