I actually had to do a double-take when I read this headline. What, are you kidding me? :shocked2:

This "event" is happening in Charlotte, North Carolina, this coming Saturday, May 17th, 2014. $50 per player, gets you pool, player gift bag, and an entry into a raffle for a bike, a shot at the trophy, and bragging rights until next year. :p

There will be an 8-ball tournament at Dilworth Billiards, 300 E. Tremont Avenue, with funds supporting "24 Hours of Booty." This is the second annual Billiards for Booty.

What is 24 hours of Booty? Read all about it: 24 Hours of Booty is a 24 hour cycling event dedicated to supporting cancer survivorship. Our team will be riding to raise money for local organizations such as Levine Cancer Institute, Ulman Cancer Fund and the YMCA Carolinas Cancer Wellness program. The original 24 Hours of Booty event began in Charlotte, on the Booty Loop in Myers Park, and it has since spread to Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Columbia, MD.

Website ---> Billiards for Booty.

Here's one of the prizes, a bike, not the motorcycle kind. ;) It looks like this event is for a very good cause. :)

What a very cool pool website ---> Dilworth Billiards

"Dilworth Billiards began in 1979 with five tables and a dream. The idea was to collect, restore, and sell antique pool tables and memorabilia while also serving as a private billiard room and club."

The collection of antique pool tables is phenomenal on their website. Wow!

From www.24hoursofbooty.org :

Join us for the Charlotte event: July 25-26, 2014
Charlotte's Myers Park neighborhood is home to the original Booty Loop. In partnership with presenting sponsor, Levine Cancer Institute, 24 Hours of Booty Charlotte will celebrate its twelfth year and host 1,200 riders who will raise more than $1.2 million for cancer research and survivorship.

The Booty Loop is in the beautiful Myers Park neighborhood. At the center of it all is Bootyville, our own little city, which also serves as the event headquarters over the 24 hours at Myers Park Traditional School.

Riders set up campsites and canopies where they can sleep, or more importantly, rest and relax with friends off of the bike
.

Who wouldn't want to live in or visit a town called Bootyville?

What a great cause!

So, are you going? This is in your neck of the woods. :)

All these Cancer fund raising events are scams. Look at any company’s IRS 990 form online for free and you quickly see what a scam they are. Ulman Cancer Fund is Mr. Brock Yetso, who pays himself nearly half a million $ from the $1 million in contributions they get every year.
The Levine Cancer Institute inquiry takes you to The Livelong Foundation, a company that gathers about $25 million a year.
A cure for Cancer is no closer today than it was in 1960. 2 cents on a dollar donated actually goes to “research” while 90 cents goes to pay the board of directors.
Cancer is hereditary, but being diagnosed with cancer can sometimes be attributed to your lifestyle.
Yes, I am a Cancer survivor.
When someone you know or a relative gets cancer, sure you want to contribute to any cancer charity, but don’t be blind, as to who you are giving your money.

Congratulations on surviving. My brother is also a survivor, went through all the chemo, et cetera. Today, his whole lifestyle, he eats very healthy, nothing out of a can or box.

There is some new treatment they came out with that is a strong dose of cobalt. Cole Dixon got it, and it helped him for a few months, but he passed away. He may have been too sick for it to be more effective. I'm not sure.

It would be nice if they could find a cure, but I do agree that it is the cancer variant is hereditary.

Be well. :)
