Birdeye has always been 1 or the top used wood if not the most used wood other than just hard rock maple. I understand that the price of something goes up or down depending on supply an demand. I'm sure a huge amount of high figured birdeye has been wiped out by over harvesting an that has left from what I can see a poor selection of figured Bem on the market. At 1 time I could buy dark figured birdeye at 24" squares between 20-30 bucks an when I say good figured I mean excellent quality. I can't hardly buy 12" with half the figure as the old stuff for that price now a days. After searching around I finally found a guy that has real high quality bem. Best I've seen in along time an when I contacted him to buy 3 or 4 sticks I almost passed out when he gave me his price. I offered him between $40-60 a piece depending on the figure of the other 3 sides. He laughed an said I want $100 a piece for 14" long squares. Here I thought I was giving a great offer. Am I the only 1 out there that thinks this way? Needless to say I'm still looking for good bem.

Folks can ask whatever they want sometimes they get it and sometimes they don't :)

Eric I won't pay 100 for birdeye but I'll pay that for a piece of that hickory burl lol. However you should show me some of your birdeye. I'm sure you have some great stuff

Bem

Try Gilmer Woods. Good Birdseye or the elite stuff you are looking for is expensive. The buyer of your cue needs to be educated it isn't like it was 10 years ago when it comes to top notch BEM. I built an all birdseye cue and the 31" blank cost me $75.

Doggone it Bob, you know better! - I guess until the administrators crack down on rules violations they will continue with abandon, but a PM would have sufficed.
Sheesh
