Birdeye has always been 1 or the top used wood if not the most used wood other than just hard rock maple. I understand that the price of something goes up or down depending on supply an demand. I'm sure a huge amount of high figured birdeye has been wiped out by over harvesting an that has left from what I can see a poor selection of figured Bem on the market. At 1 time I could buy dark figured birdeye at 24" squares between 20-30 bucks an when I say good figured I mean excellent quality. I can't hardly buy 12" with half the figure as the old stuff for that price now a days. After searching around I finally found a guy that has real high quality bem. Best I've seen in along time an when I contacted him to buy 3 or 4 sticks I almost passed out when he gave me his price. I offered him between $40-60 a piece depending on the figure of the other 3 sides. He laughed an said I want $100 a piece for 14" long squares. Here I thought I was giving a great offer. Am I the only 1 out there that thinks this way? Needless to say I'm still looking for good bem.
