BK3 joint issue

A few days ago I got a Predator BK3 cue and have since broken with it maybe 20 times. On the shaft part of the joint the finish on top of the carbon fiber has started to chip already. My case is very padded and I do not know how it could have already started to chip. Has anyone else run into this issue and is there any product anyone would recommend to repair it (polyurethane, clear nail polish, etc.)?

I find myself wondering why you don`t send it back? It certainly sounds like a defect.

Several at our local pool hall have had the same issue. not sure the resolve but looks like a error in design to me.

I sent an email to Predator Customer Support and once I hear back from them I will probably start the process. I do not however want another BK3 with the same issue so we will see what happens.

Are you hitting you cue on the table at all during your break. I used to do this and didn't even know it until I got to inspecting my break cue one day and I had tons of dings at the joint and just above it. Just a thought. It's probably a defect though.

Definitely a defect... I've had it happen to my BK and Air cues. It's like little pieces of the finish just flake off the cue randomly.
It didn't bother me so I never sent it back or had it fixed, but a little CA glue and light sanding should do the trick.

while I like the breaking ability of the bk3, I have found on many occasions that is seems to come unscrewed just a touch and I have to retighten.....doesn't happen on any cue I have owned. this looseness may be the reason for the cracking.....

What old player said was always the issue with the bk2. I figured they would have fixed it with the bk3...

Not sure if there are any Predator reps on here but would be nice to hear from them on this topic...

Bk 3

Simple way is,

Contact predator then when you get the cue back put it up for sale. Done deal end of story no more problems.................................

Nail polish

Nope. I love the cue.

My wife loves her Jeep too, picture of my wife after she cut the grass around her Jeep.

Why not send the cue back to predator to be repaired ?

If it is chipped on the edge of the joint, without some kind of sanding mandrel it will be impossible to not round the corners of the finish.

Nail polish is a joke and will not harden up enough.........................................................

You could or can use CA but in less you have used CA in the past and know what you are doing I wouldn't ...............................................................................................

You might try some lacquer :yikes: but as said above if you have a sanding mandrel.

No matter what if you repair this cue yourself predator will void your warranty.
