I was just wondering if anyone took the phenolic off there shaft and put a Samsara Tip in place.

If so, what are your thoughts? Did it hit better, Worse, the same. Better Cue Ball Control?

I would like to make a switch as well. My phenolic tip on my bk3 miscues a lot.

The samsara eats energy... Thats a fact that you cannot get past... COR reading on it are in the low 80s while the Predator phenolic is in the low 90s... That's a 10% energy loss... 10% lower energy is of course easier to control and will misscue less because of the nature of the materials...

I have developed a single layered leather break tip under the Outsville brand called the "Solid"... It's a durometer shore d 90 which is in the same ball park as the samsara but it won't delaminate....

I should have the test results on the COR reading this week and am hopeful from field tests that it won't eat the same amount of energy that the samsara does...

Back to the short version... Samsara will imrpove control but at the expense of power... Having a BK2 or BK3 with a Samsara is like having a corvette with a 300 straight 6... The BK2, BK3 and Mezz have been designed to generate power... It is up to the user to learn to use that power and keep the cueball between the ditches and on the road to running out.....

I had a Fury J/B with phenolic and didn't like the phenolic.
Had a friend turn the end flat to accept a tip and glued a black hard Kamui on. Then changed to a Samsura on a recommendation from Steve Lomax. Huge difference!!!! So now I have a phoenolic ferrule with Samsura tip. No tips falling off no problems what so ever with either tip since it was done 4 years ago. Never need to touch it.
Breaks really good. Control. Absolutely love it.
On another note.
Could a samsara require a hard no flex type ferrule. The problems for some breaking tips etc. could be from the ferrule flexing. Just a thought that crossed my mine after a friend shattered several samsara tips on his brand new break cue.

I have a samsara on a Purple Heart shaft with phenolic ferrule. It hits hard with great control. It would take a lot for me to change from the samsara

The samsara is a layered tip soaked in an epoxy... I have seen them grenade if the installer cuts grooves in the back of them to help them adhere to the ferrule.... Hobby Lobby and sveral stores offer a rubberized CA... Which is impact resistant and is the better super glue to use when dealing with the samsara, phenolic or g10...... At least in my experience.....

Funny you should ask...I just left the pool room...Had the Phenolic one piece...Had Phenolic cut down some on top and a Samsara put on...Hits 3 times as hard,,,Chalks nice...2nd cue I've done this same thing..Love Samsara tips for breaking..They also jump nice..

Would have been nice to have had the break speed app setup before and after... The samsara is not engineered to be anything other than hard....

The phenolics chosen by predator and mezz were chosen because they transfer more energy than other materials...

Not saying that the samsara is not a good break tip just saying that they definitely "won't" hit harder than the original phenolics...

For someone who misshits the break they may create a better connection to the cueball and for that person they may seem to hit harder...

I have a friend who had a stroke several years ago and when he powers up he doesn't hit the cueball square and has fits with the phenolic break tips.. for him he breaks harder with samsara because it will grab the cueball when he hits it so bad that the phenolic might have misscued....

The Samsara is a good tip, but one would be fooled if they think it creates more energy and power than a phenolic tip, or a White Dyamond tip. For those that have a bad break stroke and can't hit a ball square at that speed would be better suited for the Samsara. but in no possible way with all things being equal besides the tip will a Samsara tip break Harder than any Phenolic or White dyamond tip. I have a Alex Brick Jump Break with a White dyamond and have no clue as to why someone would swap it out for a Samsara tip. They just don't have the pop I'm looking for and I have zero problems squatting the rock with a White Dyamond tip.

I have used both and have a Samsara on my break cue now. Its not a BK3 however, and while the phenolic tips transfer a very slightly greater amount of energy, the disadvantages of them, such as a tendency to create miscues due to their inability to hold chalk well, far outweigh the benefits.

I have the same stick and it came with the white diamond. For some reason I didn't like it at all. Not sure exactly why but couldn't generate too much power; loss of control etc. Replaced it with the samsara and all is right in my little world. Funny how two exact setups react different with different people.
