I lately been having this idea to cut my black dot shaft long ferrule to make it short, very short.

What will that do the shaft? will it become just like The Pro shaft of Meucci :thumbup:

I would like to know whats inside the long ferrule of meucci, if I cut it short will I diminish the playibility of the shaft? will I ruin it? cause I don't know what's inside, maybe those that know about meucci ferrule can chime in.

The last one I saw in person apart was about 15 years ago. So it might be different now. The tenon inside the ferrule has a tapered wall. It looks like a pencil does when you sharpen it (although not that severe of an angle). The inner walls of the ferrule are parallel, not tapered like the tenon. The end result of the tapered tenon mated with the parallel wall ferrule is a gap is created between them. The gap gets bigger as you get closer to the tip.

If you cut it very short, you may cut off all of the tapered tenon area, and get to the parallel wall of the tenon. Then, it will be like any other cue.
