Black light on true simonis cloth

Oh yeah. The top(correct) side is the shaved side. WAY faster.
Thank you for the info. I asked because I played on a new Diamond at a guys house recently. IT was the slowest Diamond I have ever played on. I suspected it was something with the cloth install from the very moment I hit some balls on it. He realizes it is slow as well and yes it is new Simonis...

Some installers have no clue. The play side is very smooth/slick with no nap or fuzziness at all.

The guy that owns the table is an idiot as well. He may have told them to put the logo side down for all I know. I declined to play on it again saying I was busy..lol..

I’m pretty sure my cloth isn’t simonis, what do you think they put down when they don’t put simonis ? Also why wouldn’t they put down simonis when I requested it? Can they get another cloth cheaper and make a little more off of me ?

Did you black-light test it? If its genuine Simonis the light will show it. Only way to tell. Virtually impossible to tell one worsted cloth from another simply by feel/looks. Its also possible as said earlier that its on upside-down. Does it feel slick/shiny or is it kinda 'fuzzy'? Properly installed Worsted feels almost like canvas in a way in that there is no fuzz/nap to it.

This whole issue of one side being so different from another is interesting. Thread being round is going to be the same no matter how it is laid out. So then is Simonis treating the cloth differently on one side? Makes me curious what they do to one side so that it plays so differently. Certainly Simonis is not going to give that info out but what are they doing to it? Very curious about that... Shaving it? Treating it chemically?

Worsted wool cloth is shear'd one side. That is the play side. Its obvious up close. One side is napless/slick, the other side is fuzzy.

It could also be sum of couple different factors. If cloth is not stretched tight enough and air condition cold + damp weather. Then table would play really slow compared to normal. Also dirty balls affect it.

Well I guess I got ripped off
When I thought my new 760 (Diamond installed) was playing too slow, I looked for the invisible logo also (trimmed cloth edges with visible logo long gone out with trash). My only UV light didn’t make the logo appear, but since it was specifically designed to boost vit. D3 levels, it could have been the wrong wavelength (and more dangerous than a purple bulb disc light). Either that, or the UV logo printing process is rather ‘hit or miss’, and some cloth gets by without it (new cloth was compared to old, and was an exact duplicate). I also don’t think Diamond would buy cloth from anyone but Simonis, even if a cheaper counterfeit WAS a good enough copy (?).

The blacklight logo is printed every meter on the play side. https://iwansimonis.com/faq/#toggle-id-1
