I know this should be in the cuemaker section but, it takes a while to get a response. I bought some Oynx tips from Sharky on here and need to know if it matters what side to sand and glue? One side is flat, the other side has a circle imprinted in it. Thanks for your help, Ron.

onyx

That's the skinny of it, sand circle, glue, shape, shoot!
I switched from the Tiger Sniper to these to try as I heard they were harder and easier to install. I didn't see that, but maybe it's because my bad shot stroke is more liken to a break stroke, medical reasons..They tended to start mushrooming, so bad in fact I cut them off and replaced them..What I did do next before I re-installed the new ones was pressed them in my tip press for a few days which is in my 12 ton press...After that I installed them and they are killer! I think somewhere after that I read that the Sniper was indeed harder by a little then the Onyx, next time I may just go back the the Sniper....Save some time and a few bucks..

Wow....I was lucky enough to get picked on here when( I believe Tate) was sending out brand new Tiger X shafts with the new Oynx tips on them, this was before neither of them were on the market yet. I was the third person in line to receive my Tiger shaft so, the tip I figured was pretty much broken in. I'm not a fan of layered tips but, I really liked the hit and spin control I got with this tip. Not sure if it was from the shaft also but, I'll find out soon. I do like Sniper tips for trick shots but, the Oynx to me felt harder. I wasn't going to spend $25 to find out but, for what Sharky was selling them for, I couldn't resist. If I don't like it, pop of off and grab a Triangle! Thanks for the links and help.

Glue side - any difference

I do also wonder what is the difference between the sides. Does it have something to do with pressing, glueing of the layers or the leather it self? Are there some tips that are symmetric (glue side doesn't matter) and some not?

I put the question in the cue makers forum.

Many are marked

Some tip manufacturers label the glue

I guess if they don't it doesn't matter
