I, being a lameman .. I mean layman, didn't even think about the phenolic being cored. But I guess that makes sense to keep the weight down.
So when a cue is cored, I guess the wood used to to core the phenolic would play a major role in how the cue hits?
The new phenolic .. is the difference mostly in the looks? I do remember Roger telling me that new stuff ain't good as the old.

They don't make them anymore. The ones made now look ugly when turned. The old ones loooked like they had curls in them and were not pitty like the new one.
You can get the cue down to 19 oz with maple core and titanium pin.
The one Zylr made we test shot at a pool hall one time had rosewood core. It hit a ton and a half. He sold the last one for about double what he gets for his regular cues b/c the material is extinct.
