It's old news that Ms. Fisher is no longer representing the APA. However, the main page today, shows that Jeanette Lee has been contracted by the APA, to be their professional spokesperson. I think this is a good move for the APA. Jeanette has a great presence, and I'm sure will do a great job for them. I'm fairly certain of one thing...I bet they had to pay JL more than they paid AF. She doesn't do anything "on the cheap"! LOL More power to her!

I am happy for JL but i really don't think the APA is for the players anymore. It is all about the money for them. (JMHO) I wish her the best.

Not to take away or change your thread but, my all time favorite female player Ewa Mataya Laurance has taken over the Myrtle Beach SC and Wilmington NC area. I don't play APA because of my reasons but, I am going to the APA meeting to meet her (once again:P ) and see if some of the things are gonna change around here. This is a great move and I hope she does well and I hope she leaves Mitch for me...lol:D

Story here....

2nd time?

Wasn't Jeanette connected with the APA in the early 90s? I seem to remember her coming into the Riviera pool area riding on a live camel!

Yes the APA has drinking involved but that was a sight to see!

This sort of cheap gimmickry makes me sick. It's disrespectful to her fellow professionals and obviously a blatant attempt to set herself up as something better than they are. Why couldn't she just arrive without fuss on a dead one like the rest of them?

Nothing against Jeanette, but I always thought Alison was a perfect representative for the APA.

I got an e-mail yesterday with this news. It's probably a good move, but I'm somewhat surprised. The local Charlotte APA sponsors the number 1 player Kelly Fisher, and she has proven to be a great representative for them. I'm betting they could have had her and probably at a lower cost. Either way, it's a good marketing move for the APA.

Also glad to see Ewa involved as the LO in the Grand Strand area. I know she moved down there a few years to raise a few horses, and play a little golf. I guess her love for pool kept calling. I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more of the WPBA ladies getting involved with amateur pool.

I think this is a good move by and for the apa. The have been an apa member for the last three years. I am a fan of af,but I am not sure I remember her doing anything except putting her face on apa poster.
I look at what Dr. Cue does and Valley Forge. He is at the apa booth putting on shows and attracking people. I am sure he gets paid. He does a great job. I have seen af sitting at a booth next to the apa selling her products but not doing anything for the apa.

I am hoping jl does what Dr. Cue does and draws people to the apa booths to promote the league. I am not a big apa fan. I have played because I wanted the competition. I feel I have outgrown the apa, but it has a good purpose, promote amatuer pool playing.

I would like to seen the apa hire someone like Scott Lee to put on mini clinics at the conventions.

The Black Widow may be more approachable and a better rep, but it's definitely a step down in my opinion.

Allison Fisher is the greatest female player in history in my opinion.

Replacing her with anyone else is like replacing Michael Jordan with anyone else.

It is about time the "American" Donators Association actually sponsored an AMERICAN. But look out if Jeanette costs more those annual dues may take another hike upwards.

Most league players probably don't know much about the rankings so I wouldn't call it a step down. They will recognise Jeanette and I'm sure that her likeness will bring more new players to the game, which is a good thing IMO!

I disagree with that, Allison, Jeanette, or anybody else, they aren't going to significantly increase the membership of the APA. Most players I know in the APA don't know (or care) about professional pool players. If anything they know the player because the player is associated with the APA, not the other way around. I think money spent on a player rep is money wasted.

Couldn't agree more. Jeanette is a perfect fit for the APA. She's by far the most recognizable face in pool in the US and having her as a spokesperson will have a significantly greater impact than Allison. Not taking anything away from Allison as a pool player, as she is in a class by herself, but purely from a promotional standpoint Jeanette is a home run.

I second all of that. And think Jeanette Lee is a much better person for the APA to have as their spokesperson. She defines gracious in my opinion, and competitiveness. Not to mention being as photogenic ( is that the corrrect PC word for SMOKINNN ) as can be.

This was NOT a cheap gimmick by Jeanette! Camel cigarettes was connected with the APA as the primary sponsor (before Bud before Bud Light before they just called themselves the APA)

It was actually a pretty fun sight to see as it was part of the big pool party. She then proceeded to play with/against the amateurs on the poolside table. Total Professional!!!!

This may very well change after the next WPBA event but Jeanette is currently ranked 3rd on the WPBA. She may not be dominating events like she used to before Allison's reign but she is certainly still performing well.

I went to several of the National APA events when I was playing in APA leagues and Allison always did performances, challenge matches and even had picture times set-up with a backdrop where people would line up for hours and take pics with her. She made herself VERY available to her fans during the APA events and other events so it's not really fair to say she didn't do much to promote APA.

I think they are both great choices for any company to endorse.

im happy that the apa is spending some money with pro pool, even if it is just one player. they should do more with my dues!

I wasn't saying that Allison didn't do anything for the APA. Someone called it a step down earlier and I was just disagreeing with that. I was just saying that even though they have a new spokesperson (Jeanette), I think she will do just as well as Allison.
