For those of you that find yourselves in MI, whether in Kalamazoo, or within driving distance, you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer room than Blackbird Billiards. Open only a few months now, Tim, the owner, has gone all out, to provide Kalamazoo players with a great venue. Whether you want the tight pocketed Diamonds, or the only-slightly-less-forgiving Gold Crowns, there are plenty of 9' foot tables to choose from. There are also several 7' Diamond Smart Tables, for the barbox crowd as well. Well lit, with plenty of room around the tables, it's a great atmosphere for some great pool. There's a snooker table too, if that's your penchant. I had a great time, and played for a few hours, meeting up with local AzB'r, Kazoo Jam, who plays an excellent game of pool. There was an IPT qualifier in this room a couple of months ago, and it's easy to see why. Tough equipment, kept in excellent condition. There are weekly tournaments and league play too, so there's something for everyone. I plan to come back as often as I'm in the area.

SCOTT: That's a very nice post. You must see several nice rooms in your travel around the country. How about sharing some more with us. What's your favorite? What the best to teach out of?....randyg

You're right on the money. I was in Blackbirds a couple weeks ago and it's as nice a pool room as I've seen in a while. In addition, I got a little action. Nice people there!

I went to BlackBird Billiards two weeks ago on a saturday for thier 8ball tournament and the place is nice! after the tournament I ended up playing some 1hole with a couple guys, and eventually Tim too, He's got a nice Boti cue too !!!!

And basically any game can be found there too.

I heard that they have bank and 1-hole tournaments there all the time.
 
what time on sudays does the 1 hole tourney start? Also what kind of a turn out do they have for the 1-hole tourney?

I was fortunate enough to meet Scott and play with him for a few hours last week at Blackbird Billiards.

Thanks Scott for the great review of the room. We have had a number of out-of-towners come in allready and they have all really enjoyed the atmosphere (and the action). :)

This pool room is owned by a true player and will continue to be recognized by the pool community for it's outstanding equipment and friendly service.

Our tournaments have been growing in popularity even with the warm summer days. As the weather turns, the tournaments will also grow larger. We had a really good 9 ball tourney last wednesday with 13 players and a calcutta. Every 3rd wednesday the owner adds $99.

The Won Whole tournament is now Sundays at 1:30 PM. $15 entry, and usually caters to at least 8 players.
