Blackwood / Tonal wood

Have a couple good friends asking for cues made primarily from Blackwood, I've only played with a couple of Blackwood cues and have never been very satisfied with the hit. I will certainly do the research on but would like to know what is the fascination with woods that are "tonal"?

If they really transfered the hit that much better, wouldn't there be a bunch of guitar player pool champions?

African Blackwood is a Rosewood - "Dalbergia melanoxylon".
Typically, Rosewoods are known for their tonal qualities.
'Hit' is subjective and is not the same for everyone.
Because a cue has great tonal qualities doesn't mean that
you'll be a champion because you play with a Rosewood cue.
You actually have to have some game before you can appreciate
the hit of a well playing cue. As stated, hit is subjective.

Are you of the impression that the choice of woods used in a cue will make you a better player??

"If they really transfered the hit that much better, wouldn't there be a bunch of guitar player pool champions?"

I see no correlation and I suspect you don't either.
I'd suggest that you proceed with your search, it may prove to be enlightening.

If you apply logic to the question of how much influence the sound of the cue stick influences the actual movement of the cue ball, you should come up with your answer shortly.

Then again, if you do or don't like the sound of a cue then it will affect your feelings about the cue.
