Wow:TATE said:What were the dealers selling in 1994 and what were the prices like?
Here you go, just for the fun of it.
If you want some more, just ask.
Thanks to GUYCRUNCH for the literature.

Jeff,
But you have said so many times the prices aren't accurate..
Can't have it both ways...

That is a blast from the past!! And what a remebrance of John Wright - who could forget his monthly mailings of photographs of his available cues?

Ironically, no. My pick would be that "Grecian Urn" Tibbitts....even though it's a one-of-two. If you are strictly talking $, yes, the Gus, but that Tibbitts is more my speed. Danny's cues are magic and rarer than rare.
Personally, I have heard there are 4 people owning Gus six's but only three (that you probably know) for sure. Not sure where John came up with the "24" number. Seems high to me, but Barry should know for sure.

turns out barry told john wright that his dad had made approximately a couple dozen six points and not exactly 24. about half with 2 veneers and about half with out veneers. gus kept a meticulous shop but when it came to paperwork, like a lot of us, he found other things more entertaining.merylane said:when jw said "1 of 24" i wonder if he got that from gus?
and how many with veneers ?

My cue -pimp buddy sold one to JW a couple of months before JW passed. The cue was 100% original, seen millions of $ action and hit a zillion balls. PILOTED IV. JT., NO veneers, small iv. dot halfway up long pts. Mpl windows in butt sleeve with mpl stich rings below wrap and above butt cap. Hope its got a good home.merylane said:ive only seen 5 and 2 were veneered, i wonder how many jw seen?
sammy jones gus that jw sold was/is still one of my all time favorites, somewhere in 91 or 92 i think.

Ok but there could be an insinuation of a price gouge, which wouldn't be accurate. The cue is really not for sale, BUT if you want it, thats what it will cost you. There is a high degree of sentimentality with that cue. He ordered it from Gus, and its his personal link to Gus, in a way. So how would you price that? People have asked him to put a price on it and that's his number. Whether you agree with it or not, thats personal.
But to be honest, and put it in perspective, the 4 point plain cue I posted in the package deal thread, is so beyond sentimental to me, 250k, and you still CANNOT have my phone number. (My uncle would come back and haunt me if I didn't sell it for that much) but its not for sale at any number. When my name came up on Barry's list, this is the cue I was going to have him build, why? Cause I have two sons, cannot leave one without the other.
