Technique: ,,I try to keep it simple, to avoid big mistakes. I basically only have only one technique, pull the cue back and stroke forward. Marco Zanetti may have as many as 20 different strokes: accellerate, decellerate, long stroke, short stroke, right, left, he has an amazing arsenal. I only have one, like Dani Sánchez and Frédéric Caudron: pull the cue, wait, stroke straight. Caudron once said: the ball has no memory, it does not know what you do before you stroke. He is quite right."

Mark,

Very interesting ideas on technique from top players...

On youtube, i see Dick Jaspers some times bend the shaft when he plays a tough draw shot. Other than that, i think he mostly stroke the cue straight forward with different length of follow through. May be it's the down stroke that some players talk about. I tried the technique sometimes and for some reason it made the draw easier but accuratecy is very difficult to control.

Raymond Ceulemans "Mister 100" at the age of 75! With all the different strokes.

excerpt from Kozoom

KORTRIJK - The leader in the league, BC Deurne, spoiled his first matchpoint and BC De Ploeg, the reigning champion, came a little bit closer thanks to an 8-0 win. That is the outcome of the first session in the fourth playing round, in which three of six games have been played. Mr. 100 Lier and BC Herentals shared the points. Raymond Ceulemans excelled with a great match: 2.210 average.

Not bad for a Super Senior citizen!

Agree with Blomdahl, glad to see a top player saying this. But he's also a pretty accomplished pool player, so he probably realizes the different strokes aren't necessary on most shots.
