Blomdahl plays 1-cushion...

at the European Championship - his first pro event. Won his first match, making 120 pts in 5 innings, which is PRETTY sporty one-cushion play (24.000 avg). Looks like those 1-cushion lessons paid off! :)

The American record holder for cushion caroms managed an average of only 11.36 for a single game and a tournament average of 6.43. That player from the "golden age" of billiards in the US was Willie Hoppe and he set his record in 1933.

At the same time in Europe, the champions were averaging about 3.0 with high runs of 35 in tournaments. In 1968 Ceulemans averaged 13.11 and had the high run of 97 in the resurrected world championships. In 2007, J-P de Bruijn had the high tournament average of 16.40, best game of 50 (150 points) and high run of 137.
