Blue Cloth

I notice more and more tournaments are going with blue cloth. Is it that much better on the eyes and seeing the balls than the green? Johnnyt

I play on green cloth most of the time and I have a friend who has some tables with new blue simonis cloth on them and we've played 1 pocket a few times together on his tables. I really like the blue cloth a lot better than the traditional green color. I think the blue is much easier on the eyes and I can see the balls well. The balls seem like they stand out a little more against the blue background......

I always thought that the cloth was Green because years ago they found it was easy on the eyes. But now I beieve it was dyed Green because the game use to be played on grass until it was made a table game and brought inside. Johnnyt

I thought tournament blue cloth and Aramith Pro balls with the pink 4 and 12 were specifically used for TV because of the sharper contrast for the camera?

What about a tan color like the Sahara centennial or Camel simonis? Would that present a good contrast too?

Yes! I've only had the chance to play on a camel colored cloth once many years ago and it was great! The balls stood out so vividly, it was a very enjoyable experience. The U.S. Open was once played on the camel cloth, 1996 the year Rodney Morris won it.
