I see this question come-up at least once a week here and in most cases
there are a variety of answers so what has been accomplished?
As noted, joint diameters can vary even from the same builder.
Also, what if the cue has been refinished? The nominal joint diameter may have changed.
Calipers are cheap and easily attained so why not own a set and have an accurate
answer to your question?

My intent was not to be 'unfriendly'. I wrote that way to emphasis the fact that you are going
to get many different answers and maybe none of them are going to be correct for your cue. In effect, you'd still be guessing.
Calipers take the guess-work out of the equation.
