Bobby Hunter pin

Ok I thought this was right but just wanted to double check. I purchased a 314-2 shaft to try out, but for some reason because of the insert they aren't matching up properly. Its annoying because it feels like the cue isn't properly aligned.

3/8-10:smile:

Flyingsnail is correct. I just tried a couple 3/8X10 shafts from other cues and they threaded up well on my Bobby Hunter. The depth of the threads seems more shallow on the Hunter pin, and the end is cut off flat. The pin looks like the SW 3/8X11 but it is definitely 10 threads per inch.

Yep. As far as I know is 3/8x10 but there is some customization that Bobby makes to his pin.

His older cues were like "standard" 3/8x10 and his newer cues have flat-face 3/8x10 pins.

What a mess. They could have sent you a radial which is close - or it could have just cross-threaded. It's going to need to be re-worked. Probably best to contact Predator to see who can fit the shaft now. Let us know what happens.

FYI, I order partials, pay $50 to have them fitted at Tiger (they have their own inserts) and the overall cost is less than a pre-made shaft.

Ya it was pretty annoying and frustrating to have to deal with. But I no longer have to worry about it thanks to my brand new OB classic shaft. Got this on Thursday and am in total love with it. I got a Kamui tip put on it rather than the stock tip, but I can not believe how great the feel of this shaft is, while holding the Ld properties. So I guess I should say thanks to you Chris for giving me a good insight into the shaft from your test run with it.

I'm really glad you like it. I have my tip broken in, my game dialed in on this shaft, and I've got a lot of confidence in it now.

I don't necessarily like recommending things because people have such different tastes, however, I definitely thought the OB Classic was an improvement over the Predator 314, and I was enthusiastic. I'm hearing more and more comments that people like the way it plays. It's kind of a relief, actually.

Which Kamui do you use and how does it affect the feel?

I use the Kamui Black Meduims, don't want to say to much on how it affects the hit because both the tip and shaft are new and not totally broke in. But when I was describing the hit to a couple friends, I tell them that the shaft/tip feels extremely solid and feels like I'm hitting right thru the balls. Unlike the 314-2 where it felt like I just hit the ball. I have a spare Kamui B. soft in my bag that I want to eventually test, but not till I've had a good solid couple months with my current shaft and tip so I can properly compare.

As far as your comments go on commenting on the shaft, I do see where you are coming from. But I do kinda of disagree, only in the sense that to each is own and every good pool player should know that. If Royce gave you a shaft to test drive first then there is some good reason why and probably means your opinion would be valued. Tho we go to remember what may feel really awesome to you and I, may feel totally different to BillyBob, but its up to every player to in some way, shape, or form to at least try it out to know honestly if that item is right for them or not. I myself was against the LD shafts for quite some time, then one day my buddy gave me a Lucasi hybrid shaft to try. I totally loved it, and had to rethink my position on these types of shafts, since then I had a ob-1(didnt like, didnt feel stiff enough), the 314-2 (really stiff, but wouldn't say total solid feel) and now the OB classic which is by far the best at least in my opinion.

The best way I can describe the pin is like this: Take the typical 3/8x10 pin you're used to seeing, the McDermott one where the threads come out to pointed peaks and down to valleys. So it looks like this...

Bobby's pins (Bobbypins? :p ) have long, flat valleys and less pronounced peaks. So something like this...

PINPINPINPINPINPINPIN

Diagrams not to scale, of course, haha.
