First, if you don't mind, what was the point of your original question that you felt I missed badly?

As for your next question....what guys??

Which locals do you think he needs weight from and how much?

And in a race or an ahead set???

And winner breaks or alternate break??

But just in general, when you say bobby "isn't that good" what do you mean by "that good"?

He won the BCA a few years ago (2001 or 02) in the Masters category if I am not mistaken, UNDEFEATED...races to 5...alternate break. I don't believe that has ever been done before.

I saw him beat Archer 2 years ago at the Music City Open (bar boxes) and Reyes in last year's DCC on 9 footers.

Since I stake Bobby from time to time, I am really interested in who you think he needs weight against...and who would give him any. Maybe we can get a match rolling.

THANKS!
Jim

Regards,
Jim

John Hennessee, Nick Vita.. Do you think he can spot these guys?
they are local....

I have seen hennessee beat bobby before...
maybe Bobby has improved alot since the last time I saw him...

But I know you wouldn't back Bobby playing even against Archer or Efren at any game on a pool table...

gambling and tournaments are very very different

Nyeh nyeh nyeh yeh nyeeehhhhhhhh! I bet yer player won't play even against either of two of our generation's greatest players!!!!!!

Isn't that basically what you're saying? I mean, everyone knows I like to woof like anyone else, but calling out someone because they won't back ANYone even against Archer or Reyes is just STUPID.

That's kind of like talking sh*t to someone because they wouldn't bet against Mike Tyson when he was at his best. It's just stupid, and makes you look like a kid just trying to be cool while hanging out with the bigger kids..

i thought archer and pickle played at the cue and broke even??????

Did they play EVEN??

And since the issue is him calling out someone for not willing to back Pickle against one of those two, even if Archer and Pickle did play a match, (which I vaguely remember) my question is, was anybody actually backing Pickle?

A lesser player being nutty enough to play Efren or Archer even is one thing.. Someone being willing to back Pickle against one of them is something COMPLETELY different.

And besides.... If they didn't put a limit on how many sets were to be played, and it were just balls-to-the-wall playing until you go broke, I don't think there are many players willing to jump up and play Reyes or Archer. Most of the ones who will are Filipino, and none of them are Pickle.

Bobby Pickle wants action

Seemed like a reasonable post in a very logical place (billiards forum). Didn't ask for weight or offer to give weight, just wanted to gamble on a pool contest. Was that an improper post? Bobby probably knows more than most where he is in the pecking order of pool players and would give an appropriate spot to whoever needed one and asked for it and would want an appropriate spot from those who should give him one. There would be some players in that category but it wouldn't be a large crowd. What is interesting to me is why a post like this becomes controversial. What is more interesting to me is last weekend at Diamond Billiards during Shannon Daulton's tournament Bobby was on the microphone trying to get 6 players for their winner take all ring game which had a $200 entry and in a room full of far above average players to top pros (all gamblers?) only 5 would enter. When Bobby announced he was willing to pay half of their entry still no one came forward. Yet, I seldom go to a tournament where known players (gamblers) aren't complaining about there not being any action or no one wants gamble. Now here is a sincere post soliciting action and it gets criticized. In the next day or so there will be another post asking what's wrong with pool.

That is not the issue, I am guessing that you didn't read the whole thread, or you have no idea what was meant by it.....

If you are confused, maybe you should ask before making comments like this one

Noooo, I comprehend perfectly. (In fact, I scored perfect on reading comprehension in my college pre-test, but thanks for your concern. :D)

In summary:

av84fun thinks Bobby Pickle is a really good player.

You don't, based on one gambling session with Hennessee. (Mebbe more?)

av84fun asked you who you think Bobby needs weight from.

You said Hennessee, Nick Vita as two examples.

So far, everything is kosher, and it is simply two people having a spirited discussion on the merits of a certain player.

Then, you made your comment in response to av84fun's list of who Bobby has beat in tournaments. But I know you wouldn't back Bobby playing even against Archer or Efren at any game on a pool table...

Now, what you said would have been in the spirit of the argument if you had picked anyone but two of our generation's best players, who have proven their mettle over a period of decades.

I know you were just trying to make the point that he couldn't think Bobby is all that great of a player, and that he is just being argumentative... But you used the WRONG players to make your example.

For the simple fact of you CAN be a very very very very good player, and still.. No one would want to back you against Reyes or Archer. Your specific example brings nothing to the argument.

Don't get mad at me because I just made fun of the absurdity of the example. Now, if you actually meant something different, then be clear about what you are saying.

And as far as my reading comprehension goes, "common" language can often be misconstrued, The "common" man will understand perfectly when another common man writes something, as both are operating from certain assumptions. The intellectual will also understand, but will also understand there is another meaning that could be gleaned from the very same writing. When the person who is capable of interpreting much greater nuances reads the common language writing, he may say, "Yes, I know what the commoner meant to write, but that is not in fact what he put to paper. Therefore, I will take umbrage with what he actually wrote, and see if he realizes his mistake. Hearing him berate me for my [inability to understand] his ramblings will be highly amusing." :D :D :D

To quote that pop culture icon Alf.. "HAH! I kill me!"

I read the first 3 lines and you are way off base again.... so obviously you don't understand what I am saying...

After further reading of your ignorant comments, I see that you have no clue at all what I meant...

So continuing this is pointless....

Maybe you should mind your own business from now on

I just reread it all again for the 3rd time.... You either can't understand what you read, or you are just trying to start something... either way I don't care....

It is obvious what I mean in these responses to them... you are way off base with your opinions...

"i thought archer and pickle played at the cue and broke even??????"

No, they broke even on the first two sets (no weight) and played a third set tie breaker which Johnny won.

Regards,
Jim
