In the paper today was an article about the most recent bombing in Iraq. It states that bombs hidden in three plastic bags exploded simultaneously in a billiard hall in a religiously mixed neighborhood in western Baghdad, killing six people and wounding more than 30.
I'm having a hard time visualizing what a pool hall in Baghdad would be or look like. What type of games would be played at such a place and would anyone have pictures of these type of billiard halls.

Billiards is alive and well in Iraq and there are some top class players coming out of the country. The most notable be Fahad Shevardi who has played in numerous World Championship.

Other Middle Eastern countries are also elevating billiards to a new level.
Following the lead of the UAE who eight years ago sent players to the Cardiff World Championship qualifiers other countries have picked up the baton and you have World Class players from Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and the Lebanon are not far behind.

Iran has almost 90 qualified referees and almost as many coaches plus a formidable bunch of players.

Pool is now a truly global game.
