Any suggestions on books for beginners on carom and 3-cushion? (currently playing mostly straight rail and one-cushion myself. I come from pool background)

Except Robert Byrne's books. Any other ones?

Daly's Billiard Book for one in English. There are lots of books in French. You should watch Caudron's DVDs from Kozoom on which he demonstrates runs at all the carom games.

If you go to the site "Vimeo" ( Vimeo.com"), which is a site where people post videos like You tube. On the search bar you want to type in the term "Billar". You should get a lot of Carom and three cushion videos from Spain. Usually these videos are one camera angle, but most of the players in the videos are the top in Spain, which is really saying something.

I also suggest subscribing to Kozoom.com as there are a lot of archived videos of the various disciplines of Carom and Three Cushion.
