boweman vs. van boning in des moines on the 28th

Should be a good weekend for pool in Des Moines. Two of the best bar table players in the country playing Friday night, followed by $1000 tournament on Saturday. There should be plenty of action for all levels, 9 ball, 8 ball or one pocket.
 
What are the stakes in the SVB v Bowman match? Called. Got seats. Gunna be there!

I'll be the 64 yr old guy w/glasses, 5'10", 230 lbs, blond/white hair. I'll wear my blue Hawaiian style Mickey Mouse shirt w/all the Disney characters on it. :D Come up and say hey.

they have already presold 40 of the vip seats. they again had to reconfigure the seating to get more vip seats. the total is now 80ish. the rest are general admission which is standing.

if you havent been to big dogs yet you will be amazed. over 40 tables and over half are diamonds.
 
I called and ordered VIP seats but I suppose the VIP seating is first come first serve... as oppossed to reserved seats?

you know as much as I know about what is going on, that I do not know. I presume it is first come, first serve. Other than the players and the backers, I would think open seating. general admission is standing room only.
If we had 150 watchers I would not be surprised. I have gotten confirmations from st. louis, KC, minniapolis, and chicago.

the tourney the next day should bring 70 players too.
 
Friday is our date night, but I just talked my wife into doing this as our date. It took some talking, but she's in!

How about an AZ meetup, Mike? Maybe a special name tag or something?

good idea. I think we will have at least 10 azers in attendance.

also better call big dogs to reserve a seat. 10 bucks or you have to stand for 5

I think it a pick em. we are definately gambling here. bar table is too easy at that level. who gets a shot on the one will win and too often that is dictated on luck. one thing for sure, we will be treated to some great pool.
 
Is anyone going to give us a live update on the match as it progresses? I love sweating this stuff online since it is my only option due to distance:)
 
9 ball on a bar table...definitely a coin flip at their level. It will be fun to watch, though. Not very often something like this happens in Des Moines.

i am working on that. worst case I can do it on my treo. If any dsm azers have a laptop that has a network card, give me a call
